For Imperial, in order from easiest to hardest:
1. Imperial Inquisition
2. Black Epsilon
3. Storm Squadron
For Privateer:
1. Smuggler's Alliance (mostly because you can recieve help from either faction on most missions)
2. RSF (because you won't have to deal with turreted NPC fighters)
3. Corsec (because you WILL have to deal with turreted NPC fighters)
For the Alliance I have no clue for obvious reasons.
1. Imperial Inquisition
2. Black Epsilon
3. Storm Squadron

I think Crimson is about medium on your scale for Reb -Havok is difficult but not impossible at some points I'm just starting Vortex (just finished the first Tier 2 box) - it seems thatonly when you get to Tier 3 that they start to become challenging.
From what I've read and experienced the Inquisition missions seem to be the easiest for Imperials (I solo'd it all the way) but I have not gone through Black Epsilon or Storm Squadron yet (not sure if I will bother).

Storm Squadron is evil. It's quite obvious SS was the FIRST one they programmed.
One T4 mission has you going up against two T4 Novas with a Gunboat escort plus eight escort fighters. I had to assist a multi-Ace friend of mine with that mission - somehow I got out of it alive by adjusting shields to front and making multiple passes at the surviving turreted ships, going for their engines before dealing with the escorts and popping the turreted ships from afar once the gnats were swatted away.
BE's toughest missions were probably Tier 3 Mission 2 and 4. Mission two has you going up against a plethora of T4 Nym's/Hutts after a lengthy capture and escort mission that can be failed simply by going too far away from the escort ship. The final mission is resplendent of the aforementioned SS T4 mission, but the targets are staggered:
Phase 1 involves capturing a Nova (that's nice enough to never roll, meaning you can come up underneath and take out the turrets and engines, then dealing with the paltry escort), then escorting the ship to a jump point while fighting off the timed ambushes.
Phase 2 is a straight destroy mission. Another Nova is involved, only this one has mastered the art of Z-axis navigation, so the turret can eat you alive.
The final phase has you going up against the Gunboat from Hell, armed with super missiles and about seven escorts, and if you engage and then withdraw too far to regenerate shields (this gunboat will actively engage and FOLLOW you, making this mission extra fun), the gunboat will hyper out of the system, failing the mission.
Inquisition had ONE difficult mission, as I remember. And I gauge "difficult" by my multi-Ace friend asking me to come and assist him, seeing as he soloed everything else.

You have to admit that was AWSOME too. The gun boat made it Intresting after all those Novas you had to deal with.

I must say that after you master Storm Squadron (Imperial) you will become an anti-AWing specialist

I have heard universally that Storm Squadron is the toughest Imperial Squadron out there. I have an alt doing RSF missions, and they are a cakewalk compared to Tier 3 and 4 for SS. (Plus the ships! All that lovely mass to work with!! No tough choices to make like you have to when outfitting our nimble, but light TIE variants. Wouldn't change a thing about the TIE's though.
) Can't speak intelligently about the Reb Squadrons though...
