This is probably in here somewhere (but a quick look didn't find it and it doesn't seem to be letting me do a search atm)
If I am a master pilot (imp or rebel) and I then drop that faction on the ground...do I loose all of those pilot certs/skills as well? Or will I retain them as long as I do not pick up the opposing faction.../ponder
Thanks

You can't drop your ground faction. Well, technically you can, but it drops you to Private/On Leave in your faction. You must be a member of your space faction's ground forces to fly for them, and the game puts you there if you aren't. The only way to leave your ground faction is to drop space first.

Confirmed, dropping ground faction drops space faction, that happened to me when I dropped Rebel without leaving Crimson Phoenix squadron. However, you don't lose your squadron until the 5 minutes are up, so I managed to travelelsewhere and pack upthe shipfirst.
Come to think of it, I think the dropping a squadron by dropping faction came later, and was more in the nature of a test using the newbie ship (which I could just destroy anyway)...

If you are a Master Pilot (Freelance) then you can change ground factions without problems. You only lose the pilot skills if you are part of one of the two military fleets.
