Thread: Multi-Aces, would you care to comment?

Hey everyone

I mastered SA as my first, and stayed that way for quite awhile. Then I mastered Storm Squadron, and now I am on the cusp of mastering Vortex. My question is this: I didn't get all that many drops that I considered to be *good*, until I started up the SS tree. Now that I am close to Vortex Ace, I seem to be getting better drops even more often.

So, would anyone care to comment from their own personal experience (or if they know for fact), that number of Ace badges = higher chance of the *better* equipment dropping? It seems to be the case with me, but maybe I'm just in a lucky streak atm...or maybe pilot grind missions just drop better loot than anything else.

Thanks

I think that's just blind luck. I've mastered SS, RSF, and CorSec, and the last couple times I launched I got nothing but junk.

yeah, its random. There are nights I fly in Deep Space forover anhour without a loot drop, and then there are night like last week where I grab a Borstel, two level 10 blasters, two level 10 shields and a level 10 Droid Interface in one night (I checked my ass for a golden horseshoe after I landed).

Pure chance.

It all depends on how much blood you offer to the Blood God.

...What?

I realize that my question sounds like I am hypothesizing...but please keep in mind that my intention is not to postulate a theory on frequency of good loot drops, just tossing out an observation just to see what others may, or may not have observed in their own experiences.

For myself, it seems so far that I am getting much better loot in general in space, regardless of what I am doing. I do admit, that my sample is much too small to make any sound judgement, one way or the other.

Here's another random theory: While doing Corsec, one week I flew for 1.5-2+ hours each night for 6 nights in row. On odd days of the month I came back with absolutely nothing but junk... odd lvl engines and caps, low lvl DIs and shields, lvl 1 or 2 weapons and armor from T4 and T5 enemies, etc etc. On even days of the month, I landed with an inventory of items of which 25-50% were good stuff, worth keeping. The same T4 and T5 enemies (I was doing duties) yielded lvl 6 and 8 engines, one lvl 10, loads of 2, 4, 6, and 8 caps, and a decent handful of lvl 6-10 weapons, most 7s and 8s.

Actually I have noticed I get better drops from squadron specific missions. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with how many squadrons you have though.

Humans that were better at pattern recognizition (the proverbial tiger in the bush) got more offspring in the world then those that got eaten. As a result, humans today are exceptionally good at pattern recognizition. Unfortunately, to the point of seeing patterns where there are none.

There's justa random function working of the servers internal clock dealing out loot. You can look for patterns and you'll find plenty, but none of them will be hard code.

The only thing that is coded is that they will mostly drop tier appropiate loot.

*Mostly tier-appropriate loot*

I agree with you Washell, but here's the thing...and the entire reason prompting my post in the first place:

During tier 3 and 4 of Vortex I have looted;

3 level 10 guns

1 level 8 engine

4 level 6 engines

Various other decent to good parts

The engines do not include any rewards. Particularly concerning the level 10 guns...this is more than I have looted during all of my time in DS, or anywhere else, put together. I readily admit, that this is a very small sample, and may just be good luck. I also agree that the system is most likely completely random...but it just got me wondering, so I thought I would see what others have observed, nothing more.

so I should master a few squadrons, only loot on even days, and only during squadron specific missions? ... got it!

btw I have found that I get better loot when using a joystick rather than a mouse, except if the mouse is a laser mouse, then themouse is better, unless the joystick is a microsoft brand, but if you have a black mouse then go with that, but not if its a wireless, it must have a wire, and more than 4 buttons, if it has less than 4 buttons your sol, but not as fubar as if you were using a pre USB joystick, stay away from those, unless its somehow new, then its the best, ok ill stop now
