I have noticed this to be a common trait amongst the good pilots. If they beat you, 9 times out of 10, you'll get some sort of salute for it. It's how I've met most of my friends actually. I think I spent one night after a duel sitting at the ISD chatting with the Rebel for a good hour or two.

Tip: Always /salute back and, if possible, pick the brains of the person that just vaped you.

Yes the pilot community I think is one of the best parts in this whole game. I havent got into space pvp yet, but by the end of this week I should have my dunelizard setup. Well anyway, I rolled up a new reb on ahazi as I wanted to see how the rebel ships go. I was overt in a z-95 only non prototype parts were a crappy booster, a decent lvl 2 engine and a good lvl 2 gun.I was grinding in yavin, only took 7 kills to level and max xp so I head back to naboo to get trained. I have the z key function mapped to my stick but there was no one around 2k out from the station I see a red con, beep! I have been targeted, So I hit my sticks target button, beep. its a guy in a b-22.

So at this point my poor new reb panics and hits the booster expecting him to jam throttles and haul that spaceedsel around and blow me to reb heaven. But the guy in it just sits there and lets me pass 150 yards from his side and land. I thought that was pretty nice and if I remembered his name I would send him a /salute

This happens to me more times than not... Hardcore pilots are a different breed of player, something swg desperately needs more of.

The pilot community in general is the only reason I hang out on these forums at all... I barely ever read or post anywhere else in neither professions or server boards.

Ya the only reason i am on forums is i being a formor 6 month msw and being a ace on bria and almost ace on starsider . Ya the only time people send me hate tell is when a noob comes after me lol new ace or i am overt ,THEn i kill them easy then they say you cheated then you try to explane to them why you won , then you ask what parts you have then you tell them why you need a better engine lol and not to fight in a big ship because it has more guns lol.NOOBS are funny

That's pretty normal among Kettemoor's PvPing pilots. We're a small group, so we gain nothing by making the experience miserable for the other side.

On Bloodfin, with one notable exception, I have never gotten the hate /tells that ground PvP tends to bring. But the one exception was an AXIS member, so what should i expect.

One Imperialpilot from Bloodfin sticks out as being a super-class act. Starscream vapes me almost every time, but he is always cool as can be, and will talk parts and tactics all day with you. Some of his advice has helped me close the gap between us in fights, and I actually had a 1v1 kill on him last weekend! (My first on him). Now if I can just find a way to deal better with his L10 RE gun.

for the most part Pilots are usually nice to each other but sometimes you get the people who think your a noob either cuz u died or cuz you fly a JSF(in my case atleast) in which case you grab your rediculously expensive space bombs and hope they were arragant enough to forget their countermeasures.

but anywho in all the times I've been sho down maybe all but 3 times I got a message saying good fight. I have maybe 7 or so imps on my buddy list now too.

Popped into the usually pretty empty deep space (on my server) to farm some ISD faction and lo and behold, I hit my Z key and 2 imperial pilots pop up.

I see one guy in an oppressor taking a vette out and another guy in a JSF taking out fighters, my heart starts to pound because they have already spotted me, the guy in the JSF is pretty beaten up chassis wise so he doesnt engage me, he boosts to the ISD and hypers out, but the oppressor is a different story, he's got rebel bloodlust in his eyes.

Having not had any experience in space pvp for a good while (think I play odd-hours) I'm a bit rusty but I'm hanging in there, I stupidly left my IR2 launcher at home so I'm trying to get a good lock on him with my concussions, we're weaving about and rolling and I'm getting glancing hits on his shields but not enough to make a big dent, then he does something unexpected, he boosts and rolls away towards the ISD, I get overconfident, I think he's running, he's just suckered me big time, I chase him, he pulls a really quick roll and changes direction pointing straight down my throat, I see a brief flash and I'm back at dantooine space station seconds later.

But to get to the point of my post, after a pvp battle on the ground it's usually followed by 5 mins of hate tells and "hahah noob I pwned jooh" followed by /addignore.

This was completely different, both pilots sent me a "nice fight" and we proceeded to talk RE'd engines and best places to buy ship parts and tactics for a good half hour after the fight.

So my point is I /salute pilots for actually playing this game as a game, not to grief people and not to prove how "l337" they are and for having a sense of honour in battle.
