I have been a master pilot (freelancer) for a very long time now, but I have never went to Deep Space prior to today. So, I'm bored, and instead of going to Kessel I click one up and enter Deep Space. I am imp on the ground and I am only given the option to be imp before going to deep space. I don't know if that's they way it is supposed to work or not.
So I fly around, look at the ISD eye candy and decide to go help some guildies in Kessel. Well, now I can't attack any Imp targets in Kessel. So, I go land and relaunch thinking this is supposed to reset my overt status to covert. I can attack imps now -- everywhere but Kessel that is. Since then I've tried logging out and going back to deep space just to become a target and die hin hopes that it fixes me. Nothing works. What gives?
Any help would be appreciated.

It happens to every ship you go to Deep Space in ... from the sound of things, it may even happen to JSF and such, which COULD cause it to affect Imps and Rebels. It usually doesn't matter for them, for obvious reasons...

Yeah, that's a known issue. The only "guaranteed" solution, as best as it can be, is to redeed your ship. That should reset it's factional status.
As to why the ships are getting flagged as factional still boggles me.

Thanks so much for the responses. It's strange that they'd mark your ship as factional. Redeeding did do the trick.
