Im trying to start mining, but NOTHING is going right!
I go to Kash, and talk to the guy in the cantina in the tree, and all I get is a rude response, no quest, no nothing. Do I need to do something first to qualify for his quests?
So I gave up on that, and bought a basic mining laser and cargo hold.
I then ran out, flew up to the first asteroid I could find, blasted it with my laser, and had NOTHING break off!!! I tried for at least 5 minutes, as well as pounding on all the small, non-targetable, non-moving rocks in the area, just in case I was doing something wrong. Tried this on multiple asteroids, just to be certain.
Here are my tech stats incase that comes into play.
Smuggler Pilot 2212, laser loaded onto my small Skyc Figher (sp?).
Ok, Im HOPINGthere is a simple answer Im missing here...
Thanks in advance.

Have you been to the Red Dwarf's Mining Guide? http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=profshipwright&message.id=18433
Assuming you have, I'd make sure you're talking to the right guy in Kachiro. And check your quest journal to see if that quest is in there at all.
As far as using your crafted gear goes, what mining laser did you get? If you have a weak one, it'll take FOREVER to bust up an asteroid that has already been used up. What happens is this: each asteroid will yeild a certain amount before it's stripped. Once it's stripped you can destroy it eventually and it will respawn totally full again. However, with a weak mining laser, the stripped one is hard to destroy. I'd try upgrading my laser and running weapons overload droid programs if I were you.
If you don't have a tractor beam, you'll want to make a macro that goes something like this: /tar ast That'll help you target the chunks and the asteroid bandits. I'd put it next to a /follow macro on your toolbar.

Ill try that. Indeed I had a VERY weak laser, and the region I was trying to mine at had been very popular lately. So I think the mine may have been stripped as you were saying.
The macros will help quite a bit, im sure.
And yes, I have studied the mining guide backwards and forwards. ![]()
Thanks
