I would like to bow to everyone in this thread for the help i received. Because of this i made master rebel pilot over the weekend and love it. Plus, does anyone have a thread or guide for soloing the ISD in DS? Im very interested on how it is done and how u get past the 97 turrets n the damn thing.

haha, you dont need a guide for that thing, i didnt even know what i was doing when i first entered DS, i wanted to explore with my ARC and i had one gunner in the back who had a mining laser for a weapon...but anyway, i straffed back and forth taking out both shields then the engine, and then the reactor....the hard part is the bridge, a couple of strafes with good on hits will get it done, sometimes tyou can slow down your ship while hitting the bridge but once you see your shields drop a certain point, hit cap to shield shunt 3 or 4 and boost out going straight up, thats all i did with an ARC, a high mass x wing could tear it apart much easier.

It's almost exactly the same as the vette you did for ace. Shields 1&2, engine, reactor bridge. Just go as fast as you can (get one of the new 119-120 MK V engines) and you'll be fine.

Its about 10x easier than the vette. Hell a Gunboat is more of a challenge. I'd rather take on a ISD than Gunboat.

The guns on the ISD are sadly inaccurate. Just stay low and stay fast and straff till its dead. and if you need to take a second to recharge you can hide in the hanger on the bottom of it but you probably won't need it. Overall it was a bit of a let down.

Actually, the trick I have learned, which minimizes most of the lag a lot of people encounter, is don't speed off out the back of the ISD. When you make your runs on the shields/reactor/bridge, circle back around over the top-front of the ISD. The side guns will not fire at you, so you won't have to deal with very much in terms of lag and incoming shots.

The really fun thing to do, instead of destroying the ISD, is completely disarm it. I typically clear out all the top guns first, then work on the sides. It's a lot more challenging then just going in and blowing it up, though it's not as rewarding, especially when you only have a few guns left and someone comes in to blow it up. Can't they see you are having some fun, not making it easier for them to just kill it so you have to start all over?

But, the best advice is to get a small fast ship. Vaksai and A work wonders on the ISD, though the A can be a little tougher with it's smaller mass. Vaksai with a level 10 engine and gun will make short work of the ISD, be it disarming or blowing it up.

Oh, almost forgot the best advice possible. If something is going on in deep space, don't go after the ISD. That thing will pretty much stop any event that might be going on. Some people see a mostly-disarmed ISD as an easy target, when in fact it's most likely been made that way to reduce lag from NPC ships engaging it.

Actually, I encourage all Rebel pilots to disarm, rather than destroy, the ISD. Disarming it eliminates the lag factor, whereas destroying it only delays lag for a bit *and* forces all ships in the sector to disappear, which pissed off anyone else who's around and hunting.

So true.

I've /telled countless people attacking to stop it, though somebody always ends up doing it.

I once blew the ISD in just one pass. I count a "pass" as shield shunting and boosting away.. Swept in and killed both shield gens, swooped down zapped engine, right back up to kill reactor and straight to the bridge. Somehow the blasters weren't hurting me too bad in the back so I kept blasting the bridge till it was gone. Total time I think was 60seconds or less.

--edit--

BTW there is NO way an ISD should take less time to blow than a dang gunboat..

Well... The guys on the ISD probably get less shore leave than gunboat crews, I guess.
