I'm having a hard time getting a gunner to come in my turret. Sometimes a group member will accidently come in my ship with me, other times a groupmate will not enter my ship even after several tries. FYI, the group member that accidently came in my ship was another rebel pilot, but my brother who is neutral could not enter my longprobe gunner seat. Can I only bring rebel pilots with me? If not, how can I get him to launch with me?
I noticed that there is now a "group" button on the ship interface window, but I cannot seem to use it.
Could someone explain to me what the rules are for other players entering my longprobe? (i'm 2222 rebel pilot).

The Longprobe is a single person ship and doesn't have a turret.
For ships with turrets or POB ships faction doesn't matter, the pilot's faction seems to rule on what can or can't be shot. Any faction seems to be able to board the ship.

Guess I overlooked the LongProbe part. My bad.
Wrong.
I've taken Imperial pilots up as my gunner in my standard Y-Wing, and also in my Nova Courier. They can shoot Imperials. It doesn't matter what type of pilot they are, only what type of ship they are in.

The only situation where the faction matters, to my knowledge is when you are in a POB ship and try to sit in the operations chair (where you control the special commands and such).....if you are a imp and on a nova, you cannot sit or operate the copilot chair...you can still shoot the turrets but that's it....I don't know about the pilots faction affecting what you can target though.
I am a rebel and everytime I tried to operate the co-pilot seat in the yt-1300, I got some message about being the wrong faction....I could operate the turrets but that's about it.
For y-wings though, it's as khazneh said, the longprobe is a single person ship and that person has contol of all weapon hardpoints on the ship....the teir 1 y-wing (the normal one) has a turret that only a second player (co-pilot) can operate or it doesn't operate at all......

I'm a privateer and was able to man the turret in the back of a friend's TIE aggressor just fine.

- Form a group.
- Get the person who'll be your gunner to stand (very)close.
- Click the Group button when a ship with a turret is selected.
- Click invite by the name of who you wish to take with you.
- Click Launch into Space.
That should do it. If that doesn't work, then you or someone else is bugged.
Note: Only JtLS players can be in ships. Non-JtLS players can't even run a turret.

I have rebels up on my Nova all the time who man my turrets and happily blow away any rebel craft that come close to me (hypocrites) especially gunships. They type of ship you can target (while in a turret) depends soley on the ship you're in (Rebel gunners in Imperial ships cannot target Imperial targets.)

What's Star Wars if you can't blow TIEs up?

Thanks for the help. I plain forgot that the longprobe cannot seat a second player.
And thanks for the info on being in a ship of another faction, that saved me from making several more boring posts =-/
