Hey, right now I'm a 1/2/1/1 rebel pilot and need some help figuring out whats the best way to get xp. I did the first tier 2 box purely by taking duty missions....but it seemed to take forever, only getting 400 or so per kill. Is there a faster way to do this? Any help or suggestions is appreciated.

Sounds pretty good, but I have a couple more questions....
1.) How do you get to Kessel in the first place?
2.) Anything else you know of that could be done solo?

1) DeepSpace stations. Neut=DathRebel=Dant Imperial=Endor
2) Red Sin HyperPoint Endor has a non-stop spawn of tier 3s I was downing them at 2111 Imperial and Novice Nuet.

Certainly taking the option of buddying up and sponging XP off them is a good one if you have that option.
Assuming you don't - go to the Mercenary's Ridge POI in Lok and fight Tier 3 TIE's until you get tired - 1280xp each and there is an endless supply of 3 at a time.Make sure you have upgraded your ship components to the best you can use, but these tier 3 guys are pretty easy at 1211.

If you're using the Y-wing, put a droid interface in and buy a level 2 astromech. Load weapon overload 3 droid command (have an Imp pilot program you a chip or buy it from the bazaar/vendor) into the astromech and hyper to Nym's Hovel in Lok. Go kill Tier 3 Bloodrazor ships (1.2K to 1.5K xp). They will be yellow to you so you can pick them off one at a time and they will not swarm you. Good luck.
