Thread: Is there a way to Solo Tier 4 Neutral Missions?

Just wondering cause I'm Neutral Corsec 4/3/3/3 on Fartstar server.

My Current mission "Which I MUST COMPLETE", befor i can get a new Skill Box (which is The Stupidest thing SOE has ever done), I have to run a Patrol, that has several Waves of 6-7 Tier 5 Black Sun Fighters at the end.

I have tried it SOLO several times (well acctually over 30 times & over 6 Ships wasted down to nothing), & can not get through it.

So is there a way to Kill These guys Fast? Mabe they are Vulnerableto a specific Weapon type or something?

Otherwise I'm prettymuch screwed. I have been trying to get help to do this mission for nearly 5 days now, spending hours in starports asking ppl if they can spear 5 min to help me finish my Tier4 Mission. Generally i have been Ignored (mind you, if you start spamming for a hunting group, ppl are all over you).

I think SOE has Lost the Plot by making qests for advancement, require Large groups. I'm quite sure this rrequierment is one of the things that acctually puts ppls off going into space.

All I want to do is level up so i can be better equipped, but to do so, I need to get 4 - 5 other people to help me, and now that the servers are Far les populated (thanks to the ever Popular CU), getting a space Group is nearly impossible!

PLEASE let there be a way to Finish these missions SOLO....Anyone knows a way I can get the advantage against these Tier 5 Black Sun, I'd greatly appriciate it.

Yeah you can solo them, Corsec is one of the easy ones to solo. You need to grab some better componates, and make sure you're running all the needed droid commands.

A few questions:

1. What ship chassis are you flying?
2. What are you using for engine, shields, weapons, and capacitor (level + rough stats)?
3. What droid programs are you running?

If we know what you are doing, maybe we can help you with your tactics and loadout. You do not need a large group for any of the CorSec missions.

To answer your original question, yes you can solo it. I soloed all of CorSec.

Also if you don't know. Try to disable instead of kill. Disabling doesn't give you xp butcompleting the mission that's more important.

All of the flight tracks are easier to solo if it's your second, third, etc... the first one you do is always more difficult, since you haven't learned the tricks, droid programs, etc, and don't have a nice spread of components to use. And of course you get the experience doubling or tripling on your later ones too.

Generally though, if a mission is too tough for you to solo, then just bring a friend or two. Or ask for help in the spaceports or something. Helpful pilots are around, and some of the missions do get fairly tough. There's no shame in it.

the only 2 missions on corsec i had help with were the 4443 mission ( the gunboats trying to kill the corsec gunboat) and the vette the first time I did it. The second time , with another toon, even soloed the Vette. it was the rebel vette, the easiest of both vettes.

With the right overloads, ship config, u can pretymuch solo anything.

Play or quit..... there is no whine.

I have to agree with some other posters here. I did Storm Squadron with the assistance of one guildmate, and needed the assistance during many of the Tier 3 & 4 missions at the time. Then I became a big believer in the best components and good tactics.

I have solo'd all of RSF (with my alt) to 4/4/4/3 and it has been a total cakewalk. First of all the Dunelizard is a wonderful Tier 1 ship. 85K mass and two guns? You can fit anything in that... (especially compared with teeny Tier 1 & 2 Imp ships)

My advice:

1. Get the best components. Talk to a shipwright about this. Get two level 7 crafted guns or two level 6 RE'd guns. (use the Lizzie). Then get a fast engine and good shields. Fill in the rest however you can.

2. Run Engine Overload 3, Weapon Overload 3, Cap Overload 3, Reactor Overload 3 (if need be) and have Cap to Shield Shunt 3 in a hot key or geared to a joystick button. Have your droid programs ALREADY running by the time you get in a fight. You may sit there for 5 minutes getting your ship up and running, but you need these going already when the trouble starts.

3. Be smart on tactics. Most of the missions are timed. Escort this freighter for this long, fight off waves of fighters for this long, etc. When you have to fight off waves of fighters, disable them. It's a lot less fighting in 10 minutes or so. (That many less waves to go through.)

4. When you get big crecendo portions of the mission at the end (Fight 10 fighters and 2 gunboats, etc.) DON'T charge the clump of fighters. Fly around the periphery and get the group to split up. You run into problems when you allow them to conentrate their firepower.

Really, I used to complain about how hard SS is (and still think it's the hardest of the squadrons) but came to realize that I could set up my ship better and smarter and fly better and smarter as well.

Hang in there.

One some (not all) escort missions destroying all but 2 of the first wave of fighters will postpone or even prevent further waves from appearing. If necessary try hiding under the freighter (make sure you have agro on the remaining 2 so they concentrate on you not the freighter) and with shield shunt 3 or 4 you can easily tank the damage they deal. NPC fighters tend to travel in strafe runs or try to travel at a constant speed so if you are partially covered and travelling relatively slowly 2 ships wont hit you all that much, helps if htey are not missile capable, in fact as a rule of thumb I try to destroy bombers first as 2 or 3 tier 4 missiles can wreak havoc upon your ship if you dont have the best equipment.

But yes it is possible to solo the whole lot, even your corvette mission but you might die a fair number of times until you get the hang of it. Don't be discouraged by failure. Each time you fail you get a bit better.

*edit* hehe I really like the mission based skill, after all its all good XP on the way up AND they pay you instead of you grind grind grind, fork out credits. */edit*

I gotta wonder what you're flying and how it's configured. I literally did this mission last night, and it wasvery easy compared to the imperial squadron I did before. So far Corsec is not only solo-able, it's almost afk-able.

My ship was a dunelizard, running a stock crafted engine, 2 lvl 7 blasters with fire rate upgrade, running WO3 and Cap3. Looted shields, no armour. Nothing fancy here. Flying the waypoints took longer than the Tier 5s to kill.

Not trying to sound snarky, but this mission really is quite easy comparitively.

The mission I flew with you was Carch's RSF exit mission. I did my own gunboat mission thank you very much.

OK, I admit it, I had help on the Kessel missions, but only because someone announced the presence of Star Ravager on the 77th chat channel.
