Does anyone know a way for a master freelance pilot to enter Deep Space overt so you can gain faction for kills?

Well I suppose going specops before you hit Kessel, if possible, is the only way to go. If it is possible, the truth of the mater is is that chances of another overt being in there and finding you are SO SMALL that the risk is in fact barely a risk at all. Most people in Kessel are tier fours and new masters who are still trying to get a gunboat kill, like myself I have seen the words "PVP Enabled" On something (zone map maybe) in Kessel, so I would assume going overt is possible.

You can get to Kessel by declaring and then heading to that faction's Deep Space station, but there's no way for an overt privateer to get to Deep Space itself, unfortunately.

Tomo- isn't it possible for a Privateer to stay covert/on leave, go to Deepspace and then be forced to choose a side, thus declaring him? This was always what I heard, although, now that I think about it, it was a long time ago, and from a not so reliable source. I may be mistaken

That is possible (in fact, it's the only way for privateers to get to Deep Space at all), but the overt flag you get from doing that doesn't give you FP from killing ships of the opposing faction. To be overt in a way that will give you FP, you need to declare at a factional space station prior to launching to Deep Space. At that point, the neutral Deep Space station won't talk to you, and while the Rebel and Imperial ones will (which enables you to go to Kessel through them), you need 30K Rebel or Imperial Prestige Points to be sent to Deep Space--but privateers only have normal Prestige Points. End result is, privateers can't gain FP in Deep Space.

I don't particularly like that myself and asked about it a few weeks ago, but I don't have any new information on it yet.

There is one way but you cant be the pilot. You have to be the passenger.

I know this is a contraversial statement, but i personnaly think that being unable to gain FP in deepspace should stay as is.

My reasoning for this, is in reality theres two types of pilots.

Factional military pilots. (Alliance or Imperial Navy)
Privateer/Civillian pilot.

The primary difference between the two is that for the civillian pilot, all factional ships are neutral to you. Be they rebel or Imperial, they are oblivious to you until you fire upon them. Further supporting this is the fact that while your Rebel on the ground, you can blow up rebel ships in space.

For the military pilot, neutrality is not on the menu. You have chosen a side. A privateer however, in all reality, has not.

Thus, i see the ability to gain FP in deepspace as part in parcel of only factioned military pilots, an encouragement for people to choose a side in the conflict in space.

This is not a popular view, but its one that i support.

EDIT:

Having said all that, i would support the idea of Privateers earning FP in deepspace provided that their space faction, automatically align itself to their ground faction. In other words, remove the neutrality component from Privateers. If your rebel on the ground, imps in space will go after you just as fast as they would an acutal rebel pilot. In that scenario, they have in practice chosen a side, and not straddeling the fence while in space.

Yep thats the size of it.. No FP in deep space for freelancers.. we have to grind our FP in decay land where the points are much further appart than in deep space. Thats why Im taking my alt Imperial pilot so I can stick my freelancer in the jumpseat (saves wasting points on delegating that way).

you pick a side yes but you only gain faction by being declared prior to entering deep space. When you choose a side in deep space that alone doesn't declare you so you can gain faction in deep space. A neutral pilot can enter deep space as a rebel or they can hyper out of deep space and reenter deep space as an imperial.

There are three seperate types of prestige...one for each space faction(rebel, privateer, imperial). If I'm not mistaken the rebel deep space station requires rebel prestige to enter deep space, Imperial deep space station requires imperial prestige, and Privateer requires pilot prestige. Unfortunately when you declare as a privateer you can't use the neutral deep space station to enter deep space or kessel, you have to use the deep space station of the faction you declared with instead. Privateers can enter kessel declared because no prestige points are needed to enter kessel.Privateers can't use their faction's deep space station to enter deep space declared in order to gain faction because factioned deep space stations require the specific type of prestige points associated with its faction.
