Just curious, can a Master Pilot in one faction switch to the other faction in the ground game and retain his master pilot skills? If so, what are the implications for space combat?

No and also if you remove your self from the rebellions you lose all reb pilot to....my brother found out the hard way at 4/4/4/3 reb pilot and his ships fully loaded unaccsesable now
