Hi, I'm taking up the pilot profession for the first time, as a freelancer out of Mos Eisley. I've read all your FAQs and "How to be a pilot" stickies and really appreciate all the effort you Pilots have put into helping newbies. BUT...maybe it's old man reflexes or something. I'm stuck on the basic freelance escort mission. I have gotten a bigger scyk with more mass than the prototype, i've gotten a better engine, a booster, capacitor, better and faster weapons. I figured out how to target engines so I can disable the Black Sun fighters as quickly as I can and go on to the next one. I have improved my flying and shooting with every attempt, but have still failed 12 or more times and cannot seem to take out 6 Black Suns with my little Scyk fast enough to get the freighter to it's destination.TheSmuggler's Alliance is going to end up shooting me and Jabba is going to put a price on MY head. Any suggestions?

Hire a wingman. 
Anybody using the starship terminal has a starship and thus should be able to help you... Black Suns are nobodies friend, so pilots of each faction and squadron should be able to take them down. Just hang next to the starship terminal in a nice place where some people are, try to see if somebody looks helpful and ask.

If your heart is truly set on finishing this solo, install a droid interface, get a lv1 flight computer, and buy a copy of weapon overload 3 (yes you can use that as a noob.
Honestly, that would be money down the tubes, since the leap you take from lvl 1 gear to lvl3 gear is immense. So here are two more "free" options.
As suggested, a wingman will get you through, but if you start out relying on wingmen, how far will you get? (sorry, big self reliance in the learning stages kinda guy)
How much time have you spent in space just practicing? Without the pressure of a mission, some good old practice time would probably do your aim some good. Tatoo space does have a few spawns of similar black suns, so finding them and just logging some minutes improving your aim may make all the difference.
I applaud your reading of the FAQs and making ansincere attempt at this before posting. It's a refreshing change. If I played on ahazi, I would help you out.

Many thanks to both of you! It must be just the karma of posting and asking for help, but I went out right away and THIS time I got good hits, the fighters seemed slower and I had no trouble at all. Then went back up and took out the Ace with little trouble.
From now on, Pilot Forum Pilots are the "Official Good Luck Charm" of me and my ships!

Mattering on which Nuetral pilot squadron you're in... drop me a line! I'm imperial so that means I can't help when it comes to taking out TIE's and such. But just about everything else is fair game.
Gonna be busy tonight on my space event (see the Ahazi Event forums, Main Ahazi forum, as well as the events website for details.. shameless plug...) but I should be available most other times.

Drat... I was too late. I have 2 pilots on Ahazi (Aciam is a Master Free Pilot in the Smuggler's Alliance and Afett is a newblett Imperial Pilot in BE Squadron). I would be glad to help you if you need a wingman sometime. Since we both have SA pilots, it would be no problem for Aciam to assist in your missions.

about 2 hours from now. Doing what I can to get the pilot communitty on Ahazi up in force! Should be a fun event and pilots of all skills and factions are welcome to join in. I'm hoping to see one of the most Star Warsey events possible come out of this.

I read the post earlier today and wish like hell I could participate tonight, but it's the wife's birthday and she's INSISTING that I take her to see Ep3 (I know, where was I last night?) I won't be able to make it. I'll stop by the thread and reply anyway to get my name added, just know that I'm already stuck for the night.
