Thread: Am I really doing something so wrong? -Space mining question.

Hello fellow Ace pilots,
I've been mining asteroids using 2 macros found somewhere on the Pilot forums. Now, the problem is when someone shoots off an asteroid, my macro follows it and takes it. To me, this doesn't seem like a big deal because it now takes 6-10mins easy to fill a Large Starship Cargo Hold. Earlier, I was verbally assaulted by a person because I did the above act. I did not report him and gave him a wave.
Somethings I think hold true and I think most pilots who mine need to think about:
1) No asteroid chunk is by law labeled 'yours'. You may shoot it off, but space is fair game for most. By someone taking 'your' asteroid, you're only losing 1minute off your
2) There is plenty of asteroid to go around. There are atleast 2-3 per system, and even if 'your' asteroid gets stolen, you can always shoot off an endless supply of others.
3) Please don't trash-talk a person if they are taking 'your' asteroid. Give them the benifit of the doubt and treat them the way you want to be treated if you were macro-mining or just plain mining.
Now, I am not saying, "Well I don't care about others and only care about myself," I am just saying that if you are complaining about people taking 'your' asteroid, you are complaining about something that is not complainable. It's like crying over spilled milk. Clean the mess, get a new glass and enjoy. Don't complain to your friend that he/she was the one who tipped it over.

With many things JTLS, it's all about give and take and how much you're willing to share. Now if the guy was outright abusive, that isn't very nice but as for mining, it wouldn't hurt working together perhaps?
Its like certain spawn points people use to grind their pilot professions when someone more powerful comes along and outkills them and basically muscles in on the area. No space doesn't belong to any one person in partciular, but still a little diplomacy goes a long way.

1 and 2 are extremely bad business and conduct behaviors and in most eyes will brand you as a theif/stealer, I don't care how much it is reiterated that "space is fair game". Not going to be fair with me? My miners will steal back
Thats the fair game you refer to. I get their names, put them on my ignore list, and they are never given a future opportunity with my mining company as so many of my miners have. Point and Story? Be courteous and not a jerk. Plenty of asteroid to go around no point in making someone's day bad. I frown upon stealing, and getting yelled at is part of the consequence.

Thank you all for the feedback,
2. You say "Hello fellow Ace pilots", intimating you are an Ace too. I and many offers prefer to think of the Ace term as one not arbritarily given at the completion of a space squadron but one that is bestowed on us by our fellows, or by the virtue of having masterd the pilot profession. It tarnishs said title in my mind for a "macroer" to bestow it upon themselves
You're right, I don't deserve the title of 'Ace' if I macro. I'm sorry if I misued the word in anyway.

I suppose not. I am sure though that this person now doesn't think highly of me, and won't want to work together with me ![]()

Fair enough, but:
...Plenty of asteroid to go around no point in making someone's day bad
This is basically what I said. How come some pilots yell at me when I take 1 chunk, but there's a whole landfill of asteroid usually 500m away from them? I guess I can see your point. Why take 5 dollars from someone in the bank ifthe bank if the vault is wide open(or something to that effect)?

Really, im right, I thought i was just being pompous. Pomposity and Rightousness all at once, wow! ![]()
Anyway, to cut ti down a bit, I think he was wrong for being an idiot to you (sending annoying tells, and moaning about "stolen" chunks, after all there are loads of them flying about when you shoot), but, you were wrong to, by macroing and not doing it yourself.
12 lashes to you, and a keelhauling to him!
