Thread: Need some opinions on two engines I've crafted.

I picked up some new steel from a guildmate who used his 30k free resource reward and didn't need the other 25k of it. I've been harvesting new materials, and have some pretty awesome stuff gathered. Chowed down on a Pyollian Cake, sacrificed a live chicken, and grabbed my lucky charm and off I went to the Shipyard.

Two Type V engines I wanted, which would be used in my Nova and Heavy X-Wing, being that PvP is looking to take an upswing in Kettemoor's Deep Space, I wanted to be a little ahead of the curve.

Both engines mass in around 33300 or so, reactor drain is similar, and no major factor, the other stats left me utterly floored, and I wanted to be sure that I'm not kidding myself, despite their being pretty impressive for crafted components.

Heavy X-Wing Engine: Pitch - 70.3, Yaw - 70.8, Roll - 60.3, Speed 101.1

Nova Courier Engine: YPR - 60.3, Speed - 117.3

Any thoughts?

Those are really nice, the best Mark V Engine I have put out so far is 61 P/Y/R and 117.4 Speed.

Put that in my Royal Guard Interceptor and can hit 1525 with EO3

Well, there's a reason I put 14 points into Yaw and Pitch for the fighter engine, mostly in the event of a PvP ambush in Deep Space. In the Heavy X-Wing, that's 955 speed before enhancement. I can't hang EO4 with it, because I lose all my systems (weapons, booster, droid interface), but it handles EO3 well enough.

The 117.3 Engine in the Nova Courier put me at 938 speed unenhanced, 1313 speed with EO4 and 1689 speed with the booster I have in her.

Even with only 60 YPR, at EO4, I had the Nova backsliding and sideslipping at half throttle, which is more than enough for me to chase down fighters in Kessel with it.

I think I have the twin to that engine in my Decimator, Janu, we should drag race sometime

Someone on Kette (I forgot who) was asking for hints on making faster engines because he couldn't get over 116... he turns around and made a 119.x engine that blew mine awayafter I helped him

Damn, that would require some seriously amazing resources. The speed on mine is the result of a 90% experimentation outcome. To getany more pointsinto it would have taken near 1000 oq steel and 1000 pe radioactive to pull off. That along with near perfect Fermionic Silicastic for the Overdriver.

I would totally buy those... I am a speed demon.

To bad most SW never sell there specal reserve... they just seem to give it to friends at cost or use it to advertise in PvP on Lowca at least.

I'm a shipwright on Lowca and I have 119.7 spd Mark V engines for sale. They come with pyr in the 62-65 range. I charge 350k for them which is reasonable price compared to other SW's on the server. Especially since I haven't seen a Mark V faster than 119.7 spd. The waypoint to my vendor is in my sig. I had 4 on my vendor last night so you should be able to find one there. If not, let me know and I'll craft one up for you.

On shadowfire I make 119.5 engines (so far the best on our little server) and sell them for 200k a pop. The YPR is low but I'm hoping to correct that with some tapes (if I ever win an auction, lol).

^ The nova engine is nice, however a re'd lvl 10 engine would be slightly slower but if you were patient you could achieve a r,p,y in the 80's and also probably run EO4 which would push you faster than that crafted engine or about the same speed. I have a re'd 94 speed lvl 10 with 83 r,p,y on my X-wing and in the process of making an even nicer one. With EO4, I do 1200+ with wings closed and 1197 in attack mode.

It is 43k mass but in a Heavy X-wing, that hardly matters.

While the X-Wing engine is decent, there are dropped level 10 engines with starting YPR over 75 that will give the X-Wing a much better edge in both PVE and PVP. As the X-Wing is a giant target compared to a TIE Int or JSF, I think its needed. You would have to sacrifice speed down into the 90s though. Once you could RE it though, you could make it a real beast of an engine. I currently have a 77P 76Y 71R 90.1 on my X and I can turn inside most PVPJSFs and TIE's I've run across, as only a few Starsider pilots seem to really work their engines through RE. Seems they think fast will save them from 3 heavy blasters in their tail. I stuck that engine in my Bel and could put myself on JSF tails and never lose the advantage. I still get cleaned up by the good pilots in my X though.

If you're serious about PvP, go RE'd. You lose on top speed but PYR is much more important and with the current craft system you can't beat RE'd PYR.

RE'd L10 engine will also have a much lower drain (1500 to 1600) then crafted, making it much easier to run EO4 for even more PYR.

Reverse engineering is the way to go:

With a good Nym's starmap engine

Tier 8

Mass 25k

Pitch 75

Yaw 73

Roll 73

Top speed 100.1

At 25k, it's small enough to fit in nicely in my Bellabub
