Thread: New to DS, a couple questions

When people refer to DS repair, are they talking about a station in DS itself that gives decay-free repairs, or do I just have to enter DS, then hyper out? If I die in DS, does the repair automatically happen, or do I need to go back?

I have never had any trouble whatsoever with the vettes in Kessel, but the ones in DS seem to have my number. Are the DS vettes of a higher difficulty level despite being the same tier, or am I just doing something wrong when I am in DS? I know the proper techniques for taking out vettes, but I have been blown up on my first approach both times, and it's starting to make me wonder if maybe the aimbots are a bit more accurate in DS.

Thanks

The repair happens automatically when you leave Deep Space, whether it be by hyperdrive, or blaster.

DS repair is automatic whether you leave the fast way or by hyper.

not sure if it is the actual vette or its escort in DS but they do seem just little harder

The corvettes in DS are less predictable and are more likely to fly through waves of unassociated fighters which then join the fight against you. The corvettes themselves work the same way as the corvettes in Kessel or even the ones on the Kashyyyk missions.

It's not even worth it to destroy the Vettes. They never drop loot, the credit chip is on par with what you get from Gunboats, and the FP draw is the same as a Nova, which takes 1/10th the time to kill.

The only real reason to kill one is to recoup the xp it cost to get in if you don't have nearly 200 million like I do.

The reason the Vettes are harder in DS is not only the flythrough factor, but the fact that there are many more MISSILE carriers in the escort flights, and they like to fly formation, which means if you don't stay mobile, you could have multiple incoming rather quickly.

there's only 1 reason to kill the vettes (aside from the minor reward)

i'm convinced deep space doesn't operate on a spawn system that dictates X # of vettes, Y # of gunboats, etc. i think it's random, with a finite cap.

to illustrate:

go up to DS with a group of friends and spend an hour or two clearing the zone. bomberstrike vettes at your leisure, but be sure not to actually attack the spawn, just weaken them and their escorts a bit as they fly through the zone.

kill every other rebel spawn you come across. once spawns begin to become more scarce, split half your raid party in two and send one half to camp the rebel station for any non vette spawns coming off the base. they should allow the vette spawns to pass, perhaps bomberstriking it once it's clear of the station.

eventually you'll see the zone is filled with vettes, the cap has been reached on ships and no more gunboats or novas will spawn. now, if one were so inclined they could disable the vettes and control the zone spawn. want a fast spawn at the station for your raid party to grind faction off of? have 1 fast ship run around killing disabled vettes in succession then set up an assembly line on the base.

now, say the rebel base wasn't bugged and your raid/fp grind party wanted to get as much FP as possible.

blow the base, reset the zone, then set up an assembly line on the base destroying everything that comes off the base including the vettes so it forces something else to spawn.

since the base is broken and nobody is interested in getting absurd amounts of faction i just shoot of a gun or two, take out the escorts and leave them to float around the zone.
