GG ship?

And you don't need anyone to help you grind. In fact, it makes you learn the profession, which makes you a better pilot. You're doing yourself a disservice by not trying, or at least not explaining why you need help.

I have to say that I am waiting, myself. I'm more and more confident of my piloting abilities, but, I'm not yet ready to do this quest, and, I, myself, am bound and determined to do my Final Vet myself. As the writer above mentions, the prospect does force you to look at your own Piloting skills, something which can deepen one's apreciation, and enjoyment ofSpace.

I wouldn't despair though, there are a great many "Store - Bought" Aces out there, and, I would dare say that many of them have become excellent Pilots, all in their own time.

Amen. I spent a good 2 or 3 weeks on Tier 4, collecting loot and refining my loadout. Did my first corvette with two other people; we were all newbies to space, so it was a great learning experience.

Being dragged through by a couple of guildmates doesn't give you the ego that all fighter pilots need

Agreed. Grinding pilot would probably be one of the worst things you could do. Just because you're a Master Pilot doesn't mena you can take on Tier 4 and 5 ships. Without the expierence of their behavior before-hand, you can't win. The Pilot profession is the closest thing to Star Wars you can get in this game. Nothing beats the sheer feeling of learning to pilot ships in this game. As you play, you'll learn things you never knew at the level. But if you are a Master Pilot and learn things you should have known as a Tier 2, that's not good. If you want to grind, go ahead but don't complain when your YT gets hit by a group of Tier 4s and you don't know how to fight back.

Are you a pilot and not using Droid Commands?

I really struggled doing corsec back in the day (don't laugh, I know it's a doddle now but back then I didn't know anything about droid commands and never flown a space sim in my life) but I persevered and soloed all but 1 mission (completely destroying a kimo and a rihk of mine in the process of die-ing so much).

Now I just picked up rebel pilot on my alt and have solo'd all the way up to the vette mission without die-ing once.

It really helps if you grind pilot on your own, it makes you a better pilot..

Like the other posters said, you are doing yourself a HUGE disservice by looking to just skate though pilot. Its not like the ground game, in space you actually need to work on YOUR skills, not your toons. The only way you can do that is practice. The title of the thread says you want to be a master pilot. You have to ask yourself, do you really want the BE a master pilot, or just some guy with a badge saying you completed a profession?
