Thread: capturing valarian freighter mission

I'm just starting towards becoming a pilot and am doing a mission called "healthy competition". You are to capture a freighter in this. Well I can get it to stop but then nothing else happens. Can someone post a walkthrough on this? I appreciate it.

Check your quest journal, it will always tell you what to do next. You probably need to either dock with the ship, or move in close to activate a capture sequence that may take a minute or two.

Hi all
I cant seem to do this mission. I have killed the escorts, disabled the freighter but I cant capture it. I check in my quest log and it says "disable phase - target the freighter's engines to disable them etc", but I have already done that and I cant capture it, any help would be really appreciated

You disabled the engines (Got the disabled message right?) and then tried to dock, or at least move in close and wait a little while? What happened then?
Usually for a capture you'll either need to dock with the other ship (U key, I think) or move in close to initiate the capture. Sometimes it can take a few moments too.

I am certain I have disabled the engines as the freighter stops moving and the engine exhaust lights go out, but when I check my journal it says I still have to disable the engines to allow for takeover of the ship. I have tried the "one more shot might do it" approach several times but the freighter explodes and I fail the mission. I have also stopped next to the freighter as close as possible and waited for several minutes. I just dont get any message telling me the engines are disabled. Thanks for your help btw.

Sure you got the engines and not the reactor? Sometimes the game is picky.
If all else fails, fly it again.
