Thread: What weapons for a mining X-wing?

First of all I apologize if this issue has been raised before (likely) but I cannot find it and the Search option is not working for me (figures).
I am a Rebel Alliance Ace Pilot, and I have an Advanced X-wing for space combat. But I was going to equip my old X-wing with mining equipment.
My question is what weapons put in each hardpoint.
a) 1 Mark III mining Laser + 1 High lvl REd weapon + Tractor Beam
b) 2 Mark III mining Laser + Tractor Beam
c) 3 Mark III mining Laser
d) 1 Mark III mining Laser + 2 REd weapon
This ship is for mining purposes only, and to deal with the occasional pirates. Since I don't really need Diamond Asteroid Kessel won't be an issue.

Your option A is the best. Also, if you have spare mass, load a missle launcher to make those pirates disappear faster so you don't even lose the asteroid chunk you just shot off....
And I have reprogrammed 3 buttons on my joystick as well. Button 1 shoots weapon 1 (mining) button 2 shoots weapon 2 (main weapon) button 5 (which is next to the top hat) toggles the tractor beam. button 10 (which is next to throttle) shoots the missles. Hope this helps

You definatly want a tractor beam, it makes mining alot faster. The mining laser level isnt to important unless you use that to attack the pirates that spawn, mark 2 is enough for mining. And the biggest badest gun you can fit.

I can't use the tractor beam. As soon as I turn it on, my FPS drops to nearly slideshow levels. The visual effects of the mining lasers themselves are bad enough. I think this is the main reason I don't mine more often. Just drives me insane that there is a tool out there, and I can't use it because of the limitations of my computer.
