What if they made it so that Prestige was only earned while overt?

Note: This is JUST a random thought exercise here, please don't think I've gone over to the Dark Side.

No, because you get the same ammount of Prestige overt as not overt and you would see a lot of j3d1 up in Kessel grinding all the time. Sure they would be overt but they would go right back up there if you killed them over and over again.

IF they fixed the Freelancer's bug concerning overtness in Deepspace I might listen.
However, considering how few people actually are IN space in general, and the ease with which one farms faction and/or prestige while overt due to the same lack of participation I'd pretty much still have to say no.

If a poisonous snake is dropped on top of you from a gyrocopter, don’t freak out and shoot your own driver with your arrow gun, making the vehicle lose control and blow up. Its probably just as scared as you are.

Aseparate kind of xp after you get ace you mean? Separate from the kind you need to get into DS?

I'd be for that. I'd even be for a 1000:1 ratio for regular prestiege xp. But I don't think they'll put either in because of the whole separation between space and ground. I always thought space xp would be perfect for the Reflexes branch though. Then take away the combat weapons xp from the reflexes and just make them for combat so theres no overlap there. Well maybe not all of it, just put some to combat and some to reflex so theres no overlap.

But anyway.

Yes I'd be for that. But I don't think they'd ever agree to put that in.

Prestiege Xp needs to have some other use than just getting into deep space. I have like 14 million prestiege xp. Even if it was just a helmet or clothes or a new title. Something! Some content after making ace other than farming loot for RE and helping younger pilots.

The only reason I oppose any sort of pilot-to-FS conversion is because I don't want to see any more Jedi-wannabes out in space. I don't want to deal with their entitlement issues, and I don't want to deal with the follow-up posts complaining about a lack of FS skills for them. It's a slippery slope that it is best to just not start down at all. If we could give them FS conversion without any of those things happening, I'd have no problem with FS conversion. The ground game has gone to hell anyway, so I've washed my hands of it.

If they were forced overt, then they could cry griefing every time we killed them.

Personally, I think we should only be able to get prestige in DS, period.

Give us some other way to enter, or perhaps...introduce *DS prestige*, which is earned at about half the rate normal prestige is earned, and yields maybe a 1000:1 ratio, with a 1 million cap. Even with 4x exp, that could still take awhile. I am aware that some folks can farm prestige at rediculous rates, but if you consider the time it would take someone to arrange their pilot to be able to do that (at least a week), that person could have grinded all the necessary exp on the ground in that time.

This way, Jedi grinders are in possible danger while grinding their Reflexes FS...and this may just liven up PvP in general. Who is to say that the influx ofJedi grinders will be jackasses? If they are...it's enjoyable to smoke someone who is a jackass. Also, they could not cry *grief* because, well...you are notified quite clearly that DS is a PvP zone.

All in all, I am indifferent on this issue...not hoping for it, not going to be sad if it comes.

Who Cares Where you earn Prestige. You can Only use it to enter DS, as it is... Ahhhh! you sneaky devil. Nice Catch - 22! you KNOW that if the Dev's introduced that AND gave us another way to enter DS, they'd muck up one aspect of that. Either we'd be able to enter DS and NOT gain Prestige, or, we'd be able to Earn Prestige But NOT enter DS, thus, actually, Not able to do either. My, you are a genius, that would certainly raise a Hue and Cry that would force the Devs to look at JTL again.

Hehe, Hewer

Actually, I did think of that. If something like this were to come to pass, it could go something like this:

Upon completion of your master mission, in addition to the other stuff, the npc awards you 120k prestige...as most (if not all) of us know, this will buy you 4 free trips (even take it down to 2, if you want) into DS. I did not mean to say that we would not still be earning normal prestige while in DS, but that the only prestige that could be used for FS conversion could only be earned in DS. So, our prestige as it is now buys us entry (and hopefully other stuff as well, at some point), but the *new* prestige is used for FS, and is gained at the same time...like weapon/combat exp is earned. Maybe they could use the same formula

If the pilot burns all of their entry prestige without gaining in the positive, then they would have to return to their master mission giver, who could say something like *I see you need some more work*, or something like that, and they would have to do the vette portion of the master mission again, which would only garner the 120k prestige as a reward.

In short:

Prestige only gained in DS

FS convertable prestige is gained at (possibly?) 1/10 the rate of normal prestige, also only in DS

Like I said, it does not matter to me if they make FS conversion available or not, but this is a way it *could* be done, and have sufficient restrictions in place to prevent nullifying the ground grind.

Actually I kind of like the idea of prestige only being allowed to be gained while overt. There are already RSF outpost and Corsec outpost in some sectors. RSF pilots would be overt Imperial, Smuggler Alliance would be overt Rebel. Would have to change the pilot requirements for those professions to match the ground professions, but that should be done anyway IMO. I guess Corsec would be able to declare either for your own faction or either if you were neutral on the ground. This way a pilot with millions of prestige points would mean he spent a lot of time overt.

Alright, I change my first post to this:

Overt Prestige is okay which can be turned into FS, as long as we can use those points to buy really cool stuff.

While watching Episode 3, at the point where General Grevious is introduced a friend turns to me and says, quite 'matter of factly', 'Least now we know why everyone coughs so much in-game'.
