Well both but mostly RE. REed armor is usually not nearly as good as crafted and a good crafted weapon can be very nice but they are usually heavier. If your just going PvE then a crafted engine should fit nicely as well.

Certain things are better crafted, certain things are better RE'd.

I personally use crafted lvl7 weapons in my JSF and X-Wing as they are fast and pretty light. They also do reasonable damage at around 2.4k each. Caps tend to be better looted, though some crafted ones are becoming worth while. Reactors, hmmm, difficult. I use looted in my JSF as I need as low a mass as possible, my Engine is a lvl 6 pre-nerf RE'd only 9k mass, with 68.8, 66.4, 68.9 PYR and 95.9 speed, and you cant beat the mass with all the best resources in the world. DI's are hard. I don't really look at crafted ones and just tend to rely on my pre-nerf DI.

Sorry not to answer your question, the only thing I'd say to go with crafted are weapons. Engines are getting much better, but the PYR isn't normally as good as a looted engine. It all comes down to what you really want to do. PvP you need a hardcore engine, PvP is a bit more forgiving, so long as you have a fast engine.

One thing that is easily noticeable is that RE'd components will have a lot less reactor drain than crafted components. If you're running into a power shortage you might want to consider the RE'd parts.

Things you want RE are

Droid Interface

Capacitors

Weapons

Shields

Reactors

Things that tend to be better crafted (at the moment)

Engines

Armor

Capacitors are probally better stats when crafted but considering you should have Cap overloads in your droid the low masses your can get from RE ones are more worth your while.

From my experience this is what I have found:

Reactors - Mostly better to use a crafted one... except for the freakishly high generation reactors that have been dropping lately. RE'd reactors can be better but on average crafted takes this category.

Engines - I would say crafted is better... not to say that RE'd ones are crap but a good RE is more rare than a good crafted... crafted also tends to have less mass and higher top speed where RE'd tends to have higher ypr.

Shield - RE is better if you can get a L8 reward on your ship otherwise use a crafted one.

DI - unless you are lucky and have a pre-nerf use a crafted one or what ever you can fit on your ship.

Weapons - definitly RE here... crafted tend to have less mass and fire faster but I prefer more damage and less drain to fast refire

Armor - definitly crafted... RE can get som nice low mass but if you take hits to the armor it doesn't last long and if you don't take hits it isn't worth the trouble of RE'ing it.

Capacitors - definitly RE'd... you can get a RE L2 that is more than adequate for just about any ship with a really low mass and crafted ones just kind of suck.

I'm sorry, but id much rather have a 70+ YPR level 8 engine than any mark IV or V crafted one. Sure crafted ones are faster, but what good does speed do you when you cant turn sharp enough to shoot anything. Especially since this guy is loading his Krayt. I have used both crafted and REd level 8 engines in mine....there is no comparison.

Maybe I should make a crafted engine with everything into speed ... I'm using the L6 reward currently, but in bad lag conditions (most of the time, my ping is 500+ at the least these days) the only way I can hit things is to joust them. If you can't win a turning battle, why worry about turning too much?

Get yourself operational with crafted and set some REd part goals. L8 reward shield, L6+ blasters, L8,10 engines, and L2,4,6 capacitors are the only REd items I use. Use an REd pre-nerf droid interface if you can get it, otherwise crafted is better. On my Kryat before, and now my Heavy X, I use 3 crafted L9 blasters, I just haven't collected enough L8 and L10 blasters to RE an exceptional weapon that will outdamage a 0.25 refire crafted.

Ok, about the engine debate, you can go round and round a bit, but it boils down to your playstyle.

For PvE, I'd definitely hedge for a crafted engine for speed. The ability to control engagement and disengagement is way more important in PvE where they can't kill you in one shot, and vice versa.

For PvP, definitely RE. Nothing crafted even comes close to what the masters are using for their ships, and with lower energy costs for the increasingly important ability to use EO4,crafted engines just can't compete.

The real difference is in PvE, you want to pull out when you get hit too much, so speed matters. In PvP, you don't dare get hit AT ALL if you can avoid it, hence maneuverability rules.

dont entirely rule out RE armour, stick in crafted stuff at first but allways keep an eye out for low mass and high hitpoints on loot armour pieces, having master means you canallways jump into deep space for repairs when needed.i have 2 pieces of armour atm with around 1900+ hitpoints and 10k mass.the mass wont be such an issue on a krayt but for something lighter it makes a nice difference.
