I have to hit alt to make my hot keys appear(F1 - F12). how do you get your hot keys to appear all the time and not have to hit alt?

One of the UI settings I think...something about default pointer mode...don't remember if its supposed to be off or on...

I usually just bring up my datapad and pull it down to the lower right corner of the screen.

I am UI'ly retarded so just wrote them all down and memorised them :S
