Portalized OBject - basically a"walk-in" ship or a house.

The ships you can equip POB components in are YT-1300, Decimator, Nova Courier, Y-8

Hope that helps - though there are other threads with the answer in.

it means Portable oBject... its your basic multiplayer ship like the YT-1300, the RebelNova Cruiser, Imperial Decimator.

Now there are two man ships, those aren't considered POBs because you can't get up and walk around inside them, put furniture down etc.

What the guy above me said.

This was a term that came into common usage during the JTL beta. Its not obvous what is means (heck, I had to ask twice before someone told me).

I find it interesting that this term made it into the item description for the live game.

I've seen them also refered to it as Players On Board ships. It's a little easier to figure out the meaning of it.

I'm pretty surprised that they're refered to as POB in game, as well.

Well, the Devs used the term in beta, the Beta players started using it as a result, so the term is now widespread in Live, even if poeple don't understand what it stands for, they do understand it means a multiplayer ship you can wander around in. It also differntiates them from MP ships you CAN'T wander around in, like fighters. "MP ship-only" is misleading, as there are MP ships that are not in the intended use of the components. So... POB ships. The only ships that are POB ships are those that the gear's intended for. So.

What does this mean?

I have seen a few items that say POB only.

It means Portable Object and refers to Multi-player ships. Such as the Decimator, Y-8, YT-1300, etc.

Or, if you're really boring, portalized object. That is, a room you can walk into that loads sepparately from the world around it. Think of your house- the interior loads after you go in, every interior isn't already loaded as you walk around. Hence, portals. The interior of MP ships isn't loaded for people not on them (although that would be cool - then we could see in the windows!).

A great place to look for many of the acronyms we use, or pilot and ship info is the SWG Wiki. It's a bit more user friendly than trying to dig up info on the boards sometimes, especially with search working infrequently.
