Hi there.

As some of you know, I have been collecting footage (thanks to Stormwraith) over the past few weeks which I am puttng together as a story driven, pve based film for JTLS.

The basic storyline is this.

Having escaped Yavin after the Empire returned to scour the Rebels of the planet's surface, a small floatilla of Rebels has been seperated from the main fleet. All Holo communication has been severed and with the Empire patrolling populated space and making frequent patrols into wild space, this brave band is laying low.

Having established a small Starbase on the Outer Rim, they're in the midst of consolodating their forces so they can make a concentrated effort to finding the main fleet again. While they prepare, they have been sending out one/two pilot patrols, scouting at a mid-range to see if they can pick up any Intel on the main fleets whereabouts.

Unfortunately for them, they have unwittingly settled in an area of space which has become self-proclaimed territory to a Ghrag Persuader Fleet. After fielding a proportion of their force to annihalate a medium Ghrag floatilla so that the Ghrag wouldn't discover their exact whereabouts, somehow security has been compromised and the Ghrag are coming back with not only avengeance, but with their Operation KTA in mind (Ref. Ghrag Report. Operation Kill them All).

Held under siege, this Alliance bandhas to move out and now, the Ghrag are incoming and with all the commotion....so too, could the Empire.

Ok then. This is what will be happening. This might take a few shoots and I promise that this is going to require some patience on behalf of everybody so this is why I am opening the invitation to everybody. There are a few frames I want to shoot which will be staged. For the time being;

  1. The Alliance disembarking from their temporary home (not the Alliance station in Kashykk but one of those Donut shaped ones. I'll show you what I mean when we actually do it.) This involves a shot of Alliance fighters, launching from the Hangar bay and forming up with the POB ships after the POB ships have undocked with the station and moved out a certain distance (like 1.5km)

  2. A 20/30 second shoot of the shipswhich will be taking part in loose formation and at a predetermined time, the S-foils of any X-wing or B-wing opening in synchrony.

  3. The End. I'll want the same as Number 2, only with the survivors (yep, we could possibly fail this mission because I'm attaching a few rules) closing S-foils etc and disapearing into the ironic safety of an Asteroid field.

Thats it for the moment as far as staged shots go. Basically, these are the main ones ^.
Now I need volunteers. I need POB ships, decent efficient crews who won't bail on me and who know how to work their ships. POB ship wise I want this layout.

  • Two Novas.

  • One YT-1300

  • 'Possibly' a Decimator. Yep, we're using some 'captured' Imperial tech here.

As for Starfighters, I am ok for those because I have an idea who will be flying those already. I'll be requesting a few extras though who won't be taking part in the actual mission (I hate 8 man group limits in space) but who will hopefully help in some of the pre-arranged shots.

The mission, as you can probably guess will be the CPG T5 Duty mission in Kashykk space and in order to keep this interesting, I have a few rules.

  1. We will not be leading/kiting gunboats. This is where the mission holder flies off and lets the Gunboats chase them while everyone else batters them from behind. This will be banned for this mission. If we're going to get slaughtered, we get slaughtered but for the intentions of modern day cinema and critical audiences, kiting a Gunboat would look suspect and non-believeable. Would a 'real' Gunboat Captain chase a single starfighter and allow everyone else to waste him from behind in a real situation? I severely doubt it. Not even Ghrag are that foolish.

  2. You can come back twice. That is to say if you get seriously damaged or killed, you can withdraw twice maximum for repairs before you're knocked out. I'm confident that most people will survive this, even the POB Ships with their newElite equipment. Since I'll be holding the mission, if I die once the mission is failed . So far, I havn't even had my armour scratched when I've tried it, but hey there is a first time for everything.

  3. When we're killing the Ghrag fighters, try not to gank them. This isn't mandatory but so it looks better, try and pick your targets.

  4. DO NOT FIRE UPON ANYONE ELSE IN GROUP INCLUDING THE CAMERA GUY!!! Hehe...ok, now admit it. Peopleoccasionally fire at their friends in group when bored. Thats fine anywhere else except here. This is being filmed. I want it treated 'realistically' so please don't fire at each other.

  5. If we run out of time on the mission and the Ghrag hyper away, this is going to open up the film to it's alternate extension where the Empire have dropped out of hyperspace to see what all the commotion is about. In this event, I'd be leaving this on a cliff hangar until I can organise a small pvp event with Empire vs. Rebel POB ships and fighters to determine whether the Rebels escaped or not, but this might be left to aseperate film in the event of it happening.

Send me ingame emails (I'm on starsider) if you're interested. People off other servers are welcome to come crew on POB ships if they like and would be cool to see.

Official event 'coordinators' are myself, Halynand Stormwraith. If people can help me outhere, I'll be very grateful and this filme project should turn out real well. I'll be posting the finished product when it is complete.

Thanks.

You are the chosen one Halybaby. You don't have to do much, but as my 'CO' so to speak I thought it made sense. PLus you're a bigger voice on Starsider than I am

There's already a lot of footage. Several areas were missing and some still are. I got some good shots of X-Wings last night. The FRAPS footage (in AVI files) is currently 19 GB and 10 GB last night. That works out to around 1.5 hours and 45 min respectively. Most of it is junk or repetative and to be honest, I was too busy last night to review the footage. But, I did spend a lot of time on X-Wings since there were 3 last night.

One thing that helps filming is if the ships are lighter colored. Rapax's ship was darker colored and did not contrast as well. So, I spent more of his 'share' of time on the other X-Wings.

I don't mind people shooting me as much since it doesn't activate my shields. It just makes me panic some and spam my CTSS since my HUD is not up. The problem I had last night was the random spawn hitting me. But, people cleared them eventually and nothing got anywhere near taking down my shield.

Using tips from people here, the filming seems to go much better. I am heavily using the numlock when I am not flying manually (I just can't control my ship with numlock on and no HUD up). And, I keep a list of all ship types and pilots and macro target them often. I even got a good shot where I was following one X-Wing and then started to follow another after they nearly collided. Looked pretty cool at the time.

I would love to participate.... I have a Decimator but I suck at flying it and haven't put much work into the load out. I would even risk motion sickness and man a turret. or I could fly a fighter.

Edit: Oops... got too excited and didn't read the whole thing... I'll send you an email ingame.

Depending on when the release of pub 24 and then the time of the event, I would make a pilot on SS to be a POB gunner if you need an extra hand. This sounds fun.

I have a beginner Rebel pilot on Starsider if you'd like to use me for something. I love the sound of this project.
