Thread: Level 7 engine

Insane as I am, I've decided to outfit a Khiraxz fighter for PvP, and see if it's any good
I've decided to use a level 7 engine as base, and then build up around that one. Note that the Khiraxz is only 40K mass, so I think that a level 7 engine is the biggest one I can stuff in there (unless of course I can get my slimy hands on some kind of pre-nerf reward thingy...).
Anyways, I've been loot-whoring for a while now and have come up with this RE job:

Drain: 1443,072
Mass: 13730,4
Pitch: 61,464
Yaw: 59,488
Roll: 60,944
Speed: 68,64

NOte that this is a level 7 engine. What I need to know is exactly what stats could be better, without spending the next 6 months killing stuff in deep-space. Personally, I think the Speed and Mass is ok, but I have no idea if PYR could be any better.

Thanks in advance.

A golden rule of space loot is:

Even leveledengines can be good, odd leveled engines cannot be

You will get far, far better performance out of a level 6 engine than you will out of a level 7. Do a squadron to get the tier 3 reward engine, which will have a top speed of 79. Then loot loot loot until you have engines that have, among them: <10k mass, <1600 drain and >67.4 pitch, yaw and roll (you can cheat on the roll if you must).

In a Khiraxz, you might event want to consider a level 4, in which case you'd be looking for PYR over > 62.3.

It's a noble experiment. Good luck.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for shipwrights. Crafted level 7 engines perform pretty well, I was referring just to loot.

If you want looted, stick with even levels. The above poster is completely correct. Even without a squadron reward engine, a level 6 RE'd engine will blow away a level 7 RE'd engine. Just my 2 cents.

Mainly true, though I've heard of some good RE jobs with L7 and L9 guns. The starmap shield is RE7.

Otherwise, RE6 capacitors give serious bang for your buck. With EO4, RE6 engines are a great balance in PvP.

The only components that are worth it at odd level are L7 Shields, L7 guns, L9 guns and all odd level armor. Some odd level Reactors can be very impressive too. I have a L3 with 13780 output, Pre-RE.

But engines, capicitors and boosters are useless.

Thanks a bunch everyone...
I think I'll Do this RE job anyways, and then go look for level 6 engines. It'll propably be a lot heathier for the mass as well...

To be clear, I was only referring to even level engines (although I would avoid odd numbered capacitors and odd numbered boosters as well).

I agree with all the above posters on the good Levels for RE engines. An example, my current Level 6 job is (Pre-RE numbers)

Armor/HP at 555.5 (from the reward engine currently given)

about 1375 energy drain

about 8800 mass

69.5 P

69.9 Y

67.4 R

79.0 Sp (from the reward engine currently given)

All the parts for this engine have been looted in the last 4 to 6 weeks or so. I'm just waiting for PUB 24 so the reactor drain is decreased when I RE this one.

By bringing up even level parts, I wasonly pointing out the alternative, and comparing.

I'd be really interested to see a crafted level 7 engine with 70+ PY on it.

As far as the OP, what people are saying is 100% accurate. If you are going for a looted/RE'd engine, stick to a 6. Lower mass then a 7, and much better stats. Most 6's can even beat the level 9 loot engines.
