Greetings all, the following are some ideas/tips i've used to solo to 3'rd tier. Alot of which, you'd find in other posts probably, these however are things i've done to help me.
First off, I'm currently 3/3/2/2 Storm Squad, i've soloed every bit of it except the 3XXX mis's.
That is where i needed some "Ace" assistance from nothing short of an awesome person, Kudo's to you Mrs. Guan Goo.
Now for the tips/tricks..
1) Surf the forums, read the posts. They are more help than you think they'd be and the folks that
surf them regularly have an answer to almost every question you'd have.
2) Some missions i'm only required to dock with a ship, that ship would sometimes have mobs
near it, killing those mobs would sometimes respawn others, sometimes not. Usually i'll
disable the last 2 or so, finish the mission and move on.
3)Now for the transit between dockings or the next waypoint, i'd normally get an "INC Fighters"
message, wherei'd kill a few waves, seems to me though the more i kill the more that
spawn. Thanx a MILLION to Harturk though'cuz he made my evac a bit safer.
Basically when i'd be in transit between waypoints, i'dstart fighting the other pilots, and
if i noticed it was gonna taketoo long or if my firepower/ship wasn't enough to handle the
onslaught of endlesswaves of mobs, i'd hyperspace to a NEARBY 'safe' area, and come
back from a different angle, avoiding themobs and heading to myrendevouz <forgot how
to spell it> unscathed.### NOTE ### DO NOT HYPER OUT OF THE SPACE AREA
or you will fail your mission.
4)Try disabling your foes by targeting their reactors, Ion cannons work well here.
5) Shop for better items for your ship, doduty missions to gain the cash needed to purchase
those needed parts. It DOES PAY to upgrade tothe max. Sometimes you'll find loot that
is rather awesome that will aid you.
6) Sometimes if you hang aroundyour trainer or the big cities you'll find others needing some
assistance with their mis's, scratch their back and let them scratch yours.
7) Learn touse your Pilot Skills. /eweapons work awesome, i recently purchased a gun for
my ship where when i use the /eweapons skill, just a few shots take out the level 3
'pain in da arsses' andi can move on to the rest of em. hehe
8) Ships like Y-Wings and B-Wings can be taken out rather easily, my tactic here is to get
distance 'tweenya, and cover them with fire while keep hitting the 'match speed'
command. Then you can move on to the really tough one, theA-Wings.
9) When all else fails, fall back ontip #1 or geta friend to aid you.
That's all i can think of for now, so i'll shaddup.
Thank ya kindly,

a small addition to 3) try to shoot the engine for the last ship in a wave, but don't disable it (keep it above 20%) so it wont blow up by itself (no respawn triggered)

On your point 7; I would say that flgiht programs used via a flight computer or astromech droid are MUCH more useful and reliable than ANY of the embedded special commands like eweapons.
I suggest to all pilots I mentor that they should be using the following flgiht programs:
reactor overload 3
capacitor overload 3
engine overload 3
weapon overload 3
captoshielshunt 4
Obviously use the level programs for which you are certed. Lower than level 3, you might want to be careful using weapon overload, as they opperate correctly and use more energy.
I've had a lot of people say they have no room because they have rebel shield adjust programs installed. My personal feeling is that NONE of the shield adjust programs offer the utility and increased survivability of captoshieldshunt.
