Thread: What is the best Imperial Ship?

That's a question that can't really be answered. It depends heavily on the role you're playing and what kind of pilot you are.
In PVE, the Oppressor's high mass and decent handling probably gives it an edge, but the Advanced can work if you're willing to spend the time outfitting it and you have a thing for light fighters. Firepower's the key thing in PVE, and those two and the TIE Bomber are the only Imperial ships with two pilot-controlled guns. With the Bomber mostly being a less effective Oppressor, it loses its utility once you hit master.
In PVP, it's pretty wide open.. the Advanced packs a lot of firepower into a light fighter, the Interceptor's a bit lighter and only has one gun but can present a smaller profile (and it's just so cool), and the Oppressor's a little larger and significantly more sluggish but can carry a lot of heavy gear and deal out some serious missile punishment, making it particularly useful vs. A-Wings. Heck, even the TIE/Ln has the mass and maneuverability to make it viable.
The neat thing about JTL is there might be a "best" ship for a particular role, but there's no one ship in any faction that is always the best. Figuring out what kind of ship you like to fly and fitting it to the situation you want to fly it in is one of the most rewarding parts of this game.

What Tomo said. I prefer the TIE Interceptor for the added spread of the 4 blaster bolts, but I don't do much PvE, so the lack of firepower does not hurt me too much.
