ok i've tried to do this mission about 10 times but i keep failing it. its the second one you get from the female rebel in nyms house, has you go after a lambda shuttle to get information. it seems like the waypoint thing is busted because the shuttle is never there. instead i find it in a completly different part of lok space. ok so i've found the shuttle, disable it, then dock and get the required data. but the mission doesnt ever seem to update. and if i go land again to see if i've gotten anywhere it just says i've failed. does anyone know what i'm doing wrong? or is this just bugged really bad.

How long have you waited at the designated waypoint? Sometimes it take a minut or 2 for the target to jump in. the resaon the other ship is not tripping the mission to update might be it is not the ship the game has intended for you to target.
Just a thought. Otherwise it might be a new bug?

tried waiting for the shuttle and its escorts to jump into the waypoint, but no luck, i waited for about half an hour with no ships other than the natural spawns of ties and nym ships. i would think that this mission is bugged, since the first time i did it i got the data from docking with the ship and then completed my mission by talking to my trainer. but the next time after that all she would do was tell me i had failed my mission and gave it to me again. so i've been retaking the mission for the past couple of days with no luck. thought jtl would be a break from all the ground crap but i guess it as well is bugged to hell.

Just did this a week ago...first off, after u read this do a search, cause I don't know exactly what kind of cycle it is on.
Anyway...from what a read the shuttle is not necessarily a mission generated spawn. What I had to do is fly to the WP given and then fly around and look for the Imperial Guard TIE fighters. From what I understand there is/was an issue with people attacking the TIE's and the shuttle, but leaving a stray TIE flying around.
Your best bet is to do a search for the exact instructions, but the most important thing is that it rarely seems to spawn at the WP given.
Hope I helped a little.

Stupid question but have you tried opening your in space map (the "N" key) and used to drop down menu to find your mission critical targets? Just a thought. Don't know if it would work but Im throwing it out there.
