Idea is so simple, id be suprised if no ones mentioned it yet.
All those statically placed factional stations pilots declare at? Lets put an equal number of them in about every sector. Put turrets on them, lots of turrets. (Id suggest a large figther screening force but with an X number of bases im afraid of lag.. so i wont suggest that.) Add a base vulneralbity time period of 1 hour, every 4 to 6 hours maybe?
Whoever controls the most stations in a given sector controls the sector, and as suggested many times, have this somehow effect traffic. We could pick on the "travel button" i suppose. If the opposing faction is in control Clicking on it results in something like:
"This sector has been blockaded by the (insert faction here)"
Now, what i can't decide is, should we make this a PvE affair, a PvP affair or both?
Ultimatly the whole thing is probably going to have to be a mix of both PvE and PvP.
So lets do this.
PvE:
Those stations, make them DAMN BLOODY HARD. No blind spots, and give them those guns a range of 1000 meters. I shoudlnt be able to solo it. Only a frontal assault with a group using bombers, fighters ,etc should be able to bring one down.
EDIT: - im not sure the following will work very well, but its an idea to toy with / hammer out i suppose.
Tieing in PvP with the PvE:
Im thinking of a cascade/domino scenario with PvP, and i think it should start in Deepspace. Lets put the Rebel space staton and ISD on a similar vulneralbity time like the factional bases (so ppl can acutally get up there to defend). If one side is successful and destroys the deepspace objective, this opens the losing factions deep space station to attack for the next 30 minutes . At this point endor and dantooine sectors should be flagged as decay free as long as the deep space station stands.
Once the deep space station is destroyed, it opens the chain reaction/domino effect on the rest of the statically placed factional bases throught the galaxy for PvE. (the DS station respawns of course, but the damage has already been done, and events are going to happen now)
(personally id rather have the entire thing PvP, but ill concede that, that is an impossiblity.
