I am having problems finishing the escort - kill mission in Dant space. This is not the tier 4 mission where you can bug out. The tier 3 has you escorting a ship then patrolling until a gunboat and four T4 escorts. The main ship and escorts need to killed. I have tried twice. Once taking on the ship, then later trying to isolate and kill the escorts. No luck. Any suggestions? Perhaps I should review my weapon systems for some tweaking. I have plenty of armor and shields. Perhaps I need some additional tactical seasoning. Just wondering if anyone has some ideas. I am not a PGer so no need to be snooty

Using a Kimo style 4.

This is a mission that I highly reccommend you get some friends to help. In fact tell us what server you are on and you might get some offers on here. Try to get an imperial pilot to help that is at least a tier 4. They can use bomber strike to work on the gunboat while you and the rest take out the escorts.

Some tips: While you are on therse missions the enemy will actively hunt you down and aggro you so try to stay back, at least stay clear of the gun boat. Use droid commands! They are like buffs for your ship. You can use reb. and imp commands as well as your own. Rebels have sheild adjustment commands, and imps have the engine and weapon overload commands. Also use your Cap to shield shunt along with cap overload. If you have the IFF transponder scramble command, for piloting commnads, use that if you get in a bind. It will confuse the enemy so they dont know who you are and stop aggroing you untill you get close or shoot them. Very important thogh this will work on the same ships only one time so save it for a good time. when you are going after gun ships most have a blind spot bhind and underneath, the imp gunships blind sopt is a lot smaller and more difficult to find be careful and watch for his turns. When you are in the blind spot target his engines and disable them, this way you can just sit in the blind spot and kill him easily. Last thing, the content missions not the duty missions, from here out will be 10 times easeier, but still difficult, with friends flying with you.

Thanks for the tips. I have not used the droid commands too often, so will try that next time. I am on Chilastra server, btw. Thanks again.

I have also ran into some problems with this mission. I've tried disabling the escorts but I get gunned down before I get more than one or two of them done. The shield program is helpful, but you are absorbing alot of damage and it really only helps you last through another salvo or two from the enemy ships. I'd have to think you would need some help to get through this mission.

I'm flying a dunelizard that is decently equipped. Any strategy tips would be appreciated.

I failed this one about three times, trying to find the right strategy for dealing with that gunboat. I soloed it and it was pretty easy once I changed tactics.

First, after you complete the prior mission, move out about 1000m or so from the way point and wait for the GB and its escort to spawn. If you don't move away from the waypoint, they'll spawn right on top of you. Now here's the trick: when the GB spawns, target it's REACTOR. You want to shut it down completely; no guns, no engine. If you just go for its engines, it will keep firing on you even though it's immobile. Now, concentrate on the GB and bascially ignore the fighters. You are going to joust with the gunboat so set your engines to full and dive in. Hit it with everything you've got, then hit the boosters, dive beneath it (to avoid the rear gun) and head out about 1000m to get out of range. The escort will not break formation but they will follow you along with the GB. Rinse and repeat until the gunboat is dead. Then deal with the fighters. You should be able to take it out without taking any damage as it only really hits hard if it can bring it's forward guns to bear along withfire from the fighters.

I know the standard method of gunboat killing is to take out the rear gun first. Fly below it's firing arc from behind and kill the gun, then stand behind the gb and hit it til it dies. Bah...I say. REAL MEN/WOMEN don't look before they leap; they just dive in and kick butt!

Seriously, though the standard tactic is just as good, so pick the method that works for you. Just remember that in this case, you have to strafe; between the gb and its escorts you can get chewed up quick if you try to go toe to toe alone.

Conclusion: Mission both doable and can be soloed with the right tactics.

I suggest getting an Inyxinxiyxn (whatever... the BS medium) you will give up some mass but you will gain so much more from the maneuverability. Kimo's are good for toe to toe slugfests but at tier 3 compontents you can't survive it.

Hit the gunboat first and hit hard then get away. Weapon Cap to Sheid Shunt 3 will help alot with this as will spending some credits on the best shields you can find.

It can be soloed but my advice would be to get an ace pilot friend to help, simply because tier 3 guns don't really make a good enough dent in gunboats sometimes.

True enough. I had a pair of Mk4 blasters (2880 max dmg each) and some good shields (1770 f/r). If your equipment is similar, you re good to go, although it was a little tough finding guns with that kind of power at tier 3. At least on my server.

Thanks for the tips. Finally finished the mission with my DuneLizard. The strafing runs were the key. Also added a load of proton missles which helped and tried to attack mainly from below the gunboat usingshield shunt as I closed with it.

Though it may have beenthe new paint job on my ship. No pirate respects a ship with the default paint job.

Are you guys referring to the 2nd mission you get from the Corsec captain on Lok? I am stuck on a mission that seems to be neverending... Get civilian ship's cargo, survive Black Sun attack, give cargo to another ship, run decoy mission against wave after wave after wave of Black Sun... I have not gotten past that point because at that point I start to get ripped to shreds. I think there is a gunboat (have seen it in the distance) that pops in with some ships that launch about a zillion missiles at me. My countermeasures just can't keep up with the sheer number of times I get shot at. Yes I am disabling ships and not destroying, but I usually reach a point in that fight where I run out of countermeasures and get bombarded and have to escape. I have never been able to attack the gunboat yet.

BTW I am using a Dunelizard that is decently equipped and using all the driod commands available to a privateer. I am 2322 Privateer btw and on Chilastra.

No. The mission they are talking about is the one AFTER the mission that you are on. The secret to your mission is to RUN LIKE HELL when you are making the run from the first decoy ship to the second. The BS will just keep coming until you reach the WP and dock with the second ship. So dash to the WP,take out one or two of the BS that have spawned, and dock. After you complete the dock 6 more BS will jump in on you, so be ready.
