I am done getting my butt whipped on this mission...Is it soloable? I can't even get more than a few shots off against a set of like 10 tier 4s and a gunboat....what do I need to do to beat this series of missions? I have a heavy Xwing decked out with the works, but nothing seems to be enough to live through the first tier of the mission.

All of the missions for those trainers are soloable up until the corvette. I just finished 4444 pilot and I am waiting for the server to come back up to get the last mission prior to getting transferred into deep space.
The best way to do any mission is to find an Imp pilot and get the 2 weapon overload and engine/reactor overload chips and throw them into a droid, load them into you ship and make sure you have a droid interface with a time less than 15. Launch into space, use one of the commands, fly to nearest OP not in the space you will be flying in and then repair, use next command, repair, and so one until you get all 4 of those overloads in. Then go run your mission.
Now, if you want the surebet and easiest way to do any of these missions, go run the Heavy XWing quest and get that before you go and then you have an extra 80k of mass to use on components to really help you out. It makes flying so much easier and dogfighting 100 times more fun.

All missions are soloable, including vette missions.
Yes, I soloed Havoc on my first time through JTL. Unfortunately, I don't remember the missions well enough to tell you what I did to do it, but I will say that droid programs make a massive difference.

If on bria, look me up this weekend and I'll get you through it. If not on bria, check the pilot helper list in the forum for your server and contact someone on the list.

There is a pilot helper list? That one slipped me by. Am I on the Bria one?

Not the last time I checked...although Akyma is.
But then, that was probably another "you didn't read the sticky jab to a noob."
