Just as the title says. I've read that you [reactor ] bracket the target item in question but is it in my chat box or somewhere else?
Can someone just type out exactly how it looks and also tell me how to be in flying mode and still use macros. Is it done the same way on the ground and in having an icon or do you just hotkey the macro.
Thanks

Just hit the
[
or
]
keys to target and cycle through subcomponents. No other commands are necessary, just the single keystrokes.

If you hit [ or ] on the right hand side where the information about the enemy target ship is shown , somewhere it will say reactor 100% weapon 100% or engine 100% as you hit [ or ] it will change from one or the other

Just to add, it's not a typed command -- it's the actual keys (left bracket, right bracket) that select the sub component. Left bracket and right bracket is basically "previous" and "next". When you hit them, you'll see the componenent name below the target name in the target window (engine or reactor.. and other larger ships, weapons, shields, etc..)
If you're using a joystick, it's much easier to bind those commands from the Ctrl-O/Keymap window to whatever buttons you'd like, than having to reach down and hit the keyboard.

Simply do the following:
1. Target an attackable craft.
2. Press the left or right bracket key. "[" or "]"
3. In the target information window (by default in the upper right corner of your screen) just above the shield %, you will see "reactor 100%" or "weapon 0 100%" etc.
4. By firing at the target while you have something displayed, you will be attacking that sub-system.
As for the macro question, the same macro system applies in space as on the ground. However, since there are commands that can't be executed in space and since your toolbar slots are different, you might need to do some work setting them up again.

I understand now. I thought you were typing a specific target in the brackets. The brackets just scroll through the various sub comp. and whatever you leave it on is what it hits.I like this so you can target a weakness instaed of an "all over attack".
Very cool, I never gave JTL much thought but themore I play it the more I like it.
I have to blow the dust off my joystick. I used to enjoy playing sturmovich (spelling?) flight combat game.
Thanks again.

Read your quest journal very carefully on every mission - it will tell you things like this, as well as save you a lot of headaches trying to figure out what to do.
