Thread: Question about weapon Grouping

OK, so I just got 4/3/3/3 and my TIE aggressor. I have a couple quick questions about weapon grouping:

1) Do the weapons have to be the same type?

2) Does the damage stack?

If the answer to #1 is no, has anyone had experience they can share? Better to group 2 different types of weapons or stack the same type?

thanks!

The weapons can be anytime, and the damage absolutely stacks. BUT - the TIE Agressor is a 2 person ship, one gun is in a turret that you need a second player to fire, and it faces backwards.

HOWEVER - the TIE Advanced holds two weapons, and will suit you fine, if that's what you meant.

Well grouping doesnt make much difference, if you have 2 guns grouped separately you cycle through them grp1-grp2-grp1-grp2-etc while holding down mouse 1.

If you put them together you fire both together (first shot) and then they refire when their refire rate lets them.

If you use fire all guns (set in the options) groups dont make a difference, and if you have them grouped separatelyand hit and hold 1+2 they act like grouped guns.

"If you put them together you fire both together (first shot) and then they refire when their refire rate lets them."

Does this happen even if they don't "graphically" seem to be doing this?

thanks for the info

Like said earlier, if the refire rates are different - the guns, even though linked, can become offset in their firing.

First salvo is nice and clean - with two distinct cannons firing... while the follow up shots arent quite linked.

But you did say "graphically" and that, my friend, throws numerous wrenches in the mix. It could be everything from vid card to lag to refire rate.

Also as Attacca said, the Aggressor only has one pilot-fired weapon. You can put two weapons in but the 2nd is for the gunner and only a 2nd player can fire it. This sounds like the problem to me.

It doesn't matter what you do, the pilot cannot fire Weapon 2 in the TIE Aggressor. Try the Advanced, though I find most people buy the Aggressor for the mass (120k). As a Shipwright, I get this question a lot about the 2nd gun in the Aggressor.

I know the Advanced only has 65k mass but it's better than the 55k(?) in the Intercepter (though you get 4 bolts from one gun so you're not really losing). Otherwise, if you REALLY need the mass, you have to wait for the Oppressor or use the (ick!) Bomber.

Sorry mate, that's just the way Imperial pilot works.

Oh, of course there is now the heavy TIE Fighter with 95k mass. Take your pick.

I think I have this figured out. The reason I couldn't see them fire together "graphically" was because it was a 2 person ship! lol

I got out the deed for the JSF mission I did (ages ago and I can finally use it!) and everything is working fine. I think the "2 person ship" thing was throwing me for a loop.

thanks!
