It seems to me that if you lead them correctly, not exactly where the lead crosshair goes, but another spot, you break them up really quick.
If you just pound them on the rear you keep hearing the static of the shields until they break down, this way, if you hit it right, sometimes they blow up in 3 or 4 hits.
This is probably not a new discovery, but figured I would throw it out there

Remember the Death Star trench run?
"Luke, youve switched of your targeting computer, whats wrong?"
"Nothing, I just think the targeting comp was programmed by SOE!"
If Luke doesnt need his targeting computer i dont either! Hell, I fly after ctrl+shift+h, and it looks so cool, especially in 3rd person.

It's always been this way due to lag. If you shoot so that you laser actually hits the fighter (visually, on your screen) the shields will light up because the effect is handled client side. But due to the lag, the server actually thinks you are shooting behind them. If you lead them, you miss on your screen but the server detects a hit. When you recieve this information back the client plays the explosion effect which indicates a succesful hit.
So in conclusion, the shield flash means nothing, look for the explosion effect to tell wether you are shooting in the correct spot.

most ships do this if you find the correct lead point, TIE's esp since no sheild but 3 to 4 hits is awfully vague since take me 2-3 to waste tier 5(if all 3 connect)
