i am on the black sun...weps shipment...then survive, then courier...and i cannot for the life of me complete this damn mission

lok...then to dathomir...weps ship, dock then head to wp

at wp withstand attack of black sun...4 or 5 waves of 3 each...no biggy

then head to new wp and drop off weps stuff....no biggy

then head to new wp and i get attacked by seemingly endless black sun waves of 5....i get messages saying 4 enemies left, 3 enemies...so on, but then the count restarts and says 4 enemies, 3 enemies...same...over and over and over....how do you beat this farkling mission?

i'm pretty sure that on that last part, you get ambushed... you have to fly to the waypoint because when you drop off the one thing, they give you a decoy to give to another ship.. on the way there, you get ambushed.. what i did was disable every ship except one.. the crappiest one out there, i docked with the other ship AFTER i got to the waypoint.. normally, you get ambushed on the way to the waypoint and never make it.. you have to be AT the waypoint to get the ship to jump in... and then dock with it.. after you do that.. it'll say you have to destroy 5 ships.. the dude you docked with will hyper out... then, you can proceed to take out the 5 ships, i think 4 jump in plus the one idiot that chased you and fired on you while you were docked... and then you should be done with the mission.. i had problems with this mission too.. i finally figured it out though... hope this helps..

Good for you. I keep getting killed by the second wave at the first waypoint after retrieving the cargo.

I'm currently 3222. Should I go cruise for XP until I get 3322? Do the level 6 & 7 components make a big difference?

you need to finish the mission, then you can get trained, you cant get trained by having the xp in tier 3, and yes level 6 and 7 componants would really help

Never ever ever take anything but components first in the first 3 tiers, each batch of components is head and shoulders above the rest, the only time you might consider not doing that is in tier4 when you aren't granted a new level of craftable items. If you dont have a lot of good L8 loot laying around to use, its worth grabbing Droid4 first or Ships4 depending on your taste and pilot branch.

As for the mission, that leg is an "attack en route" segment, and you just need to keep booking for the waypoint. The longer you take, the more they send and it wont ever stop. The cheesy way to get past it is hypering insystem to dupe the AI, but I hate that, never done it, never will. Disabling engines quickly then moving on is a far more satisfying method. The mobs explode, and eventually a new wave will appear, but you get a lot more breathing (and travelling time) than you would otherwise. Just imagine you can hear their screams as they float dead in space, and don't worry about lost xps, this is a mission gating your progress, not a chance to grind

Targetting the reactors was a good hint, thanks. That, plus looting a better capacitor and engine has got me four fifths of the way through the mission.
