I attempted to solo the first tier 3 mission given by the bothan from Dath, and i got killed by all the waves of tier 3 ties attacking me while I was trying to transfer the codes. Is it possible to solo tier 3 missions or will I need to call some allies to my aide?

I have mastered twice now (1 rebel and 1 neutral) and i have soloed tier 3 both times. Although a few of the missions took several tries. But the best advice would be to find some friends. You will definately need them later on, so might aswell get some teamwork established now

If your used to flight sims then yes, solo it. But, if your like me and this is the first flight sim u have ever played then u will most definately need friends. The first mish is easy, the rest are not.

Check whats under your hood. You might need to upgrade and look into droid commands if you haven't been using them.

you would be amazed by the difference 1 wingman makes
got a guy riding your tail? 1 shot from your wingman will pull him off
too busy evading shots to do damage? a wingman can blow their engines (so you can still get xp)
flying a bomber? have a fighter to make up for your bad manuverability
flying a fighter? have a bomber pound away at them with high dmg weapons

I soloed Tier 3 in Rebel Vortex Squadron. Now I'm stuck at 3 / 4 / 4 / 4 because I haven't been able to gather enough support to finish those ridiculously hard missions. I help my guildies with their Tier 3 missions all the time. It's like taking candy from babies with no arms.

IFF scramble is your friend
in those missions if they attack me on the way there, i just disable em all and move on
makes it take longer for more of em to spawn

I soloed all the way up to the exit missions for master. being a rebel pilot i went to a vendor and got some ready chips for wep overload 3 engine overload 3 and reactor overload 3. those helped a lot. now if you need to dock with a target i have found that if u just dock with it the ties will shoot at you still but not hit much.(in my experience) you are tier 3? you flying a x-wing yet or still the Y. that makes a big difference. equipment is the most important thing in my opinion. get yourself some good equipment, maybe a wingman if needed(send a tell to someone wearing an Ace tag or one of the Tier 4 tags we are usually more than happy to help especially aces cause there isnt much for us to do anymore.)

I soloed Tier 3 missions. The one I had trouble with was the first one where you have to disable the YT-1300. But once I got past that, got my X-wing and Mk 3 equipment certs, I breezed through the rest of them.
I have a shield generator that produces some 1800 shield strength, so I was able to Dock with the Recon ship and upload the data without even having my shields penetrated. Trick is to dock with the ship as soon as it appears. Ignore the enemy fighters, only a few will spawn at the first. They will attack you for a few seconds, then they'll have to come around for a second pass, which will give you a few more precious seconds. If you fight the fighters, they will keep coming -- and in even greater numbers -- making it even harder to find time to Dock and upload.
Complete your mission first. You are expendable, the information is not.
