I'm having trouble with the second neutral Tat Tier 3 mission. The first part, where you disable (and take over) a Black Sun transport, goes well, even if it takes forever to escort the thing after the imps suddenly vanish.
But the second part is to disable an imperial shuttle, and both times I've tried the shuttle has killed me. I tried targeting its weapons, but that didn't seem to help. Does anyone have any advice beyond "bring a friend"? (I really would hate to force someone to come along during the seemingly neverending escort of the Black Sun transport.)

Get droid interface, and flight computer, highest you can use. Load cap shunt to shields 2 (or 3 if you can), Weapon overload 3, and Capacitor overload 2 (or 3 if you can). Stay up above the top wing and go for engine first. After its disabled then work on some weapon systems, boosting to safety.

Also, see if you cansqueeze on a concussion (?) missile rack, the ones effective against shields (if not concussion then seismic) with a good pack of ordnance. Load your particle weapons with one normal blaster and one blaster engineered to be super-effective against armor, SWs can get them up to .85ish vs armor and .15ish vs shields. The missiles will carve off the shields, then your gun will be extra effective at dropping the systems. You can chew through a few if not all the weapons banks on your first pass, then turn around and disable the engines and have your way with it. This also works good against the unshielded TIEs, just be careful of any shielded TIEs that may escort since your loadout isnt very effective at dropping their shields

Fly up from directly underneath, or down from directly above. Make several passes, and stay where the guns can't hit.

Maybe re-evaluate your gear? It may be that for this particular mission you can unload a countermeasure, or booster, or maybe lighten your armor in favor of better shields. You may also be able to have something you're already using RE'd to free up space and improve performance. Use the extra space for better offense, defense, or both.
Droid programs can make all the difference. Tier 3 is where I had to start getting help too. Any pilot in your situation would likey be more than happy to help you out if you're willing to do the same for them.

I really don't have much trouble with Lambdas. The trick is to stay in their blindspot and blast away with all the lasers you've got.
I always try to look for the biggest and baddest laser cannons, and the thickest armor, because the Lambda can really dish it out. Then, if it doesn't attack me, I'll fly up to it, slow down, fly past it, get into a good position below it where it can't hit me, then wait for it to fly over me. As soon as it does, I start blasting away with my lasers (while I have "weapon 1" targeted). It'll turn and sway, so turn with it, but try to stay directly under it. Take out the turret first, because after that it'll be a lot easier.
Make sure you have some good sheilds, and even good armor, because you'll take a beating.

One the turret is down, take out its reactor (I prefer the reactor over the engine because if you take out the engine, the front cannons can still fire at you). And voila.

100% way I've found to do it when I was at that level was to fly from the 90 degree line that is from the direct sides or direct bottom or top to about 30 degrees from the nose as I flew in I'd slam it with my guns. As I was getting close I would turn into the nose of the shuttle and fly back out from the front then turn around and do it again. The rear gun never hit me and as long as your not directly in front of the shuttle it wont hit you either. That is still the way I kill it today even though I'm master and have a pretty good ship.

Thanks to all your help I succeeded last night, and it wasn't all that hard actually. My alt is a Master Shipwright and I discovered I could make better level 7 armor and shields than the level 8 loot I had been using. I kept below the shuttle, opened with a pulse attack (have no idea how much that works), and then fired a series of photons (level 3, which was better than what I had been using until then) while opening up with my blaster.
I haven't upgraded my droid commands beyond shifting shields from front to back and back to front, as I can see that means a bunch of work with a new flight computer. But that is probably the next step.
Thanks again to everyone who responded.

hitting a shuttle in basic setup at a range of 550 meters is the way, He cant touch you.
Had the same problem with the inquisitor mission. Took me a while to figure that out. On a tie fighter , you dont have amny options, it low mass and slow, lol.
