To my knowladge i've never recieved reward equipment. Did i overlook it?

I've been wondering this myself. Is reward a term for above average equipment or is it actually in the name?

Yes you missed them. They are given by your trainer after successfully completing a storyline mission. There is no note of it in NPC dialog or system messaging. You need a keen eye to know what the rewards are as opposed tonormal loots. The only ones that stand out are the L6 Engine, the L6 Armor, the L4 and L8 boosters, the L8 shield, and the L8 gun. They have visibly nicer stats in 1-2 areas, if you know what you're looking at. The DIs and the L4 shield aren't really noticeable, as "good"

Names and when they are granted vary from group to group, so I can't tell you when and what you should have gotten.

*edit* added when they are given since it was unclear initially

Yes, but you're thinking of "better" in a strictly 1-1 comparision. Often reward items look stinky in most areas, but are truly great when RE'd.

Examples:

Level4 booster- has 1980 power, when RE'd with a loot with low consumption, you get a really long duration boost.

Level6 engine- if you get loots to improve mass and PYR, its one of the best engines going.

Level6 armor- no comparison, when you find some low mass L6 loot, its as good as level9 crafted for 1/3 the mass.

Level8 shield- 2500hp shield need I say more?

Level8 gun- they have 13.1 charge/shot.... that doesn't drop, ever.

I'm not trying to bug you specifically about it, or make you feel bad for selling. I'm just making some examples so pther people will keep an eye open and not make the same error.

I'm not bugged by your comments psikobunny, i appriciate the comments. Reason why i might have overlooked some reward loot is because i never really understood what re'ing does (still dont understand 100%). I'll keep an better eye on my loot in the future.

To RE something, you need a number of parts all of the same RE level. For example lets take a level4 booster. When you have 4 L4 boosters, a shipwright can combine them into a new booster, that has the best stats taken from the boosters you have plus a small bonus. Say BoosterA has great Energy, BoosterB has low consumption, BoosterC has good acceleration, and BoosterD has low mass. The REBooster will have the best energy, consumption, acceleration, mass of each of them, improved by a small bonus. Makes potent stuff, and is the key to enjoying loot collecting in JtL. Not just finding a better gun, but finding several better guns, each with different good stats, then combining them into something special.

It's worth mentioning that certain items will have RE's less than their current level. Be on the look out for these as they are EXTREMELY valuable. I discovered a level 10 capacitor that has a RE value of 5. This means that when re'd with level 5 capacitors it will have the mass and energy drain of a level 5 capacitor and the performance and hit points of a level 10. These yield some of the best equipment in the game

umm the stats of the item are based on the RE level not the cert level. a L10 cap with an RE5 is just like every other level5 cap, no benefit to that.

Yeah its really a level 5 cap, just you need cert10 to use it. Otherwise its the same as all other level 5s.

the droid interfaces, espechialy (only?) the silver ones, are almost always RE lvl 5 cert 10, or RE lvl 3 cert 6 etc. they are no btr than any other one, in the same RE lvl.

For whoever does not understand RE, and its very important to understand it, plz take a loot in the shipwrite forums
