My shields are gone and my armor is gone and the eject button pops up.
My question is this. If I click EJECT before I get shot more and eventually explode, will my equipment degrade from the actual ejecting from my ship, or is the damage is take simply from the shots already received? Also if I just sit there and do not eject will my components take more damage?
What I am going after here is if I hit EJECT as soon as it pops up is there a chance I will take no equipment degrade? Please feel free to be as specific as possible. I love being flooded with information, even if you feel its not worth mentioning, to me all information is valuable.
Thanks!

I am curious too, I am going to start keeping really close track of my parts.
i have gotten used to NOT using eject just because it triples the wounds and BF you get, instead just die, less healing neccisary

Personally, I can sometimes get lucky and slip away, so once the button is up, I won't click it unless I get immobilised in some way. I never really gave much thought to whether the ship takes more damge from me ejecting or getting shot up, but I am too stubborn to quit while I figure I have a chance.

I *think* it only decays the parts that have already suffered damage. If you eject when it's just your armor and booster that have been shot up, for instance, those should be the only parts to see component decay.
I could very well be wrong on this, but I was messing around with it a little one day and that was my conclusion. It could definitely use some further testing, though.

I am surprised that there is no definate answer to this. I have a ship that I dont use anymore, so I will load it up with some looted crap parts and just spend a day getting myself killed in deifferent ways to test this out. If I get to where I feel I have reached a solid conclusion I will post it here with numbers. Also if you do experiements on your own post them here too. Thanks everyone!

Your components still decay, I believe, but not as much as they would if you were totally destroyed.
Repair fees are usally lowered as well because components may not take as much damage, or be disabled, as they would if you were just destroyed.

I can't believe this keeps coming up. There are a number of threads on this already.
Let me tell you the difinitive answer:
NEVER,EVER push that "Eject" button unless and ONLYIFyour ship has been immobilized. It is really (and should be labeled) a "Self-Destruct" button! You do not eject, you do not save your components, you don't do anything but explode - which "clones" you at the nearest space station.
In fact it does double the "death" penalty damage to your charactersHAM bars and DOES decay your ships parts. I think the Devs titled and described this button as a "good thing to do" when you got severly damaged as a "stealth" way of burning up ships and their parts (and providing work for Doctors
). It is much better to let your enemies destroy you than to use that blasted, mislabedbutton.
Hope that answers your question.

What would be fun is if you could push other players out of the airlocks in the MPS ships. >=)
