I'm currently using my old X-wing (90 hp left on the chassis!) with two mining lasers on the tips of the s-foils and a tractor beam on the centerline. Got myself a 1350 cargo hold at the moment, too.
What are other people using for mining setups?

I used my krayt for a while, but its my PvE ship and I hated swapping out the guns all the time. So, for the first time I hopped into a Rihx with a decent lev 8 gun, a mining gun, and a tractor beam in the middle. I popped in an okYPR engine and a 1550 cargo hold and Im pretty satisfied with it.
I tried so hard to use the Y8 but its just not practical with just one person.

Until I have mined enough for my SW alt to make me a better hold and a tractor beam, I am using two craftedMark II lasers, One Mark I reward laserand my large reward hold on a Kimo style 2. I put in a low levelloot capacitor and I use CAP OC 3 to keep my energy usage down. She turns pretty fast with an old pre-nerf loot engine.
When I get a bigger hold and Tractor beam I'll be in business

I use a Kimo with a Mk3 laser and a tractor on the wingtips. I follow chunks and get as close as I can with the tractor firing, then I blast the chunk. Often, I suck in the entire batch in one *shwoop* Number of lasers doesnt really matter, if you have one that can blow a chunk in 1-2 shots. I've found that when mining, having a ship with a wide gun placement is really useful for the Tractor.

Yup, I agree
Untill I get my Tractor though, three lasers is bound to hit those chunks. I rarely have to get more than 600 Km from the Mother 'roid. Accuracy and Firepower. One shot the mother 'roid, one shot the medium 'roidand then the rest is shooting fish in a barrel

Experimental Blasters in the Top and bottom slot
1550 Cargo Hold
Sure I may not turn the fastest, but I can cause some damage if I need to.

Yeah i use my X-wing currently. At one point i had 3 Mk III's on it, it was amazeing. Currently it's 2 Mk III's and a tractor., which works pretty well and i'm able to fight off 4 teir 5 pirates in kessel just fine. Long live 2500 point shields.
As far as the B-wing i had thought about bringing the "space cow" out of mothballs. Maybe i'll actully do it.

Are the mining lasers adequate to kill the tier 5 asteroid bandits in Kessel? I think I would feel kind of naked without my fast firing guns...

Ive been using my actis interceptor with a mark III laser, reward tractor, and a 1444 cargo hold. Even at the slow speed i go to get behind the medium chunks, my turn rate is so good it makes sweeping pretty easy.
