what is the minimum damage you need on a weapon for 1 shot PVP

just curious. i know the PVP issue has been beat to death but i've never seen and numbers

i assume that anything over 2500 (that being the best shields cept for the new POBs) would kill in one hit

can someone please clear this up for me

Depends on overloads, vs shields/armor stats, and your opponenets' shield f/b,and your opponents' armor. Against someone with a good shield and armor plating, and you running engine overload 3, you'd need about 2 or 3 guns with fair vs stats in the 3-4k damage range for a "one shot kill".

THeres ALOT of variables invovled. Mostly depends on what your flying and what your opponent is flying.

Generally speaking a level 7 reward gun is all you need. (See pic). However id only recommend that for a T/I. Two L7's for a T/A, in an A wing you have no excuse not to pack an L8.

http://www.imagedump.com/index.cgi?pick=get&tp=221331&poll_id=0&warned=y

Takes about 2 shots to kill acutally, but with the first shot your already into their subsystems, so they're hosed anyway.

General rule of thumb is this:

- Average out your min/max weapon damage, mulitply it by the mod.
- Take that number, and mulitply it by 75%. Thats your acutal damage.
- If im not mistaken, WO3 does 200% increase, so muliply that number by 2.

Then you have to realize that most ships such as a T/I, T/A, or A wing will typically at best have a MK IV shield ,and MK II armor.

Shield is 1900 F/B at best, armor is about 615. Thats his total defense.

Compare your output, to his defense.

With the ROTW fighters, assume they all have an RE'd L8 shield at 2555 F/b,

there is no such this as too much overkill

one player in an awing might have a mkIII shield with 1300 front hit points and 600 points of armor whileanothercould have an exploited 3800 front back shield, running adjust front on top ofthat for a 7000 point front facing, and have mkIII armor with 1200 hit points. one you have to deal 2100 damage to start chewing on reactor, the other its 8200.

to be able to kill most players in one hit, you proboblywant to deal 4000 average applied damage. to get your applied pvp damage, take the mean of your min-max, multipy it by the shield effectivness, then times the .75 pvp modifier, and finaly double it from wo3. with an average.68 effectivnessweapon it comes out to right at the weapons base min-max damage stat.

just pack as much heat as you can, cause you dont really know what the other player has for shields and armor.

>>while another could have an exploited 3800 front back shield

LOL, thankfully thats not very common, and acutally uncommon. And from what i hear, the number on that shield is closer to the 5K mark if unadjusted.

Realistically though, most players aren't going to do much better than the weapon loadouts ive already described. Excepting perhaps fitting an L8 cannon into an T/I instead of an L7. It's a bit more tricky at 50K mass, but it's quite doable. An RE'd L8 reward gun is the best damage you'll do short of an Level 10 gun. But the lowest mass you'll can you arguably expect from that is about 43K. In a 50K to 65K mass chassis, i'm inclined to say its not feasiable.

So if / when you DO come accross someone with 5K exploted shields, and 1200 armor, chances are.. you have no chance at all.

Take a typical RE'd borestal
2507-3876.9 damage, 0.68 vs

Screw the average, lets just take max possible damage you could EVER hope to achieve with this gun while running EO3.

876.9 * .68 = 2636.29 raw damage,
2636.29 * .75 = 1977.21 acutal damage after 25% PvP damage reduction
2.* 1977.21 = 3954.43

So at best, when pigs fly and angles sing, you can do 3954.43 damage with that borestal. In your one, single best hit, you have not gone through all of his shields, and are nowhere near scratching his armor. In a fast fight where a quick snapshot is all your going to get, your one best hit you could ever hope to achive, has just been shunted off by CTSS4. Hence a player with a 5K exploited shield, and 1200 armor, is niegh unkillable in any ship that doesnt have the missle playload of a Tie Oppressor.
