When shopping for an engine, do you want the engine top speed to be a high number or a low number?

Not sure if it means: Low number = reaches top speed quicker or,

Low number = goes slower

Top speed should be high. You'll want to look at acceleration if you want it to accelerate faster. But high speed/high acceleration is the way to go. For me atleast.

Engines have an Acceleration rating? Am I missing it?

Speed is useful, but the Pitch, Yaw, and Roll numbers are often more important. Those help decide how quickly your ship will turn, and hence how quickly you can manuever in combat.

Top Speed vs Maneuverability is a question of preference and pilot style. A pilot who likes to joust will want more top speed for attack runs, whereas a PvPer or someone who likes to chase will want better PYR to more easily "turn inside" an opponent. Me? I prefer both, using Reverse Engineered engines to get decent top speed and high PYRs. My current favorite is an 80/84/80/100spd L10 engine that is in my Vaksai on Starsider. There are a couple people who can attest to how well that ship turns, and speeds.
