I think this is either the 2nd or 3rd mission where you escort the scientist with his z-95 and we need to guard him until he hyperspaces out. A friend and I kept fending wave after wave for over an hour and a half, and he still never hyperspaced out...he just kept saying "almost ready" "oh no!! more ties!". How long is this mission!?! Is there something else we are supposed to do?

Doesn't sound like a duty mission, duty missions usually have you escorting one ship for a while, and then a new ship comes and you escort that.

Sounds to me like a bug, but perhaps someone in the Vortex squad can comment?

no, it's definately not a duty mission. I remember taking a while to do this when I did it, but now that I;m helping my friend I can't remember how long it took. It certaily wasn't an hour-and-a-half...

Yes, this is probably a lil something called a duty mission. It ends when you tell it to. It's just for xp. To end it go into you D-pad and find it and click on it and click End Duty er something like that.

it turns out it was a bug. We did the mission again last night, and this time it wasn't even 10 minutes. Strange.

well, I was about to say it was a bug.....looks like you've already found out......

Anyway, I though I'd add a little tip for those that don't know this little trick.

When you have an escort mission that continuously spawns enemies, simply disable the ships and let them float there in space......what this does is stop new spawns for a while until the disabled ships despawn (you'll get no xp for this though). This little trick allows the ship your escorting and also your ship to regenerate shields and maybe even get away with minimal resistance.

NOTE: this will not work on escort missions where the enemy spawns are triggeredby the escorted ships position in space....which is usually the missions when you escort a frieghter.

oh, and for this vortex squadron mission and others like in (you'll have to do some really hard one's in tier 4)....get the best shields you can get and attack every fighter that attacks your target.....you don't want to destroy them, all you want to do is draw arggo from them so they attack you and not the escort.....the more you have attacking you, the easier it is for your escort to regen it's shields.....you are basically a decoy. You can kill some if your able, but don't waste your time chasing any just so you can kill or disable it....it's best to hit it 3 or 4 times and next time it comes around it will come after you and not the ship your escorting. You'll be taking a lot of fire, so that's why it's important to have the best shields you can get and have those shield pilot commands ready (especially emergency shields command...you'll be temporarily invulnerable as long as you don't take hits from multiple enemies at the same time....that will still eat through your shields).

Agree w/ hardwiredXman I have used this to much benifit, but don't disable them all let one float around for a whle unharmed play joust with it but you should be able to pass the mission

i did this same mission with a 3/3/3/3 helping and we ran into a spawn of tier 3 and 4 interceptors, there were about 7 attacking me, it happens ever time i try the mission
