Okay, I am 3433 freelance working on getting xp. I can take down most tier 4's and 5's no problem. UNTIL I attack a ship with any kind of turret. These ships tear me apart!

Is it my equipment, my ability, or are they just tough? Anyone have any tips on how to fight these guys?

If doing duty missions
Try to see if you can get a duty mission the RSF teir 4 trainer instead of the Smugglers alliance teir 4 trainer.

If doing teir missions and are escorting:
If you have a mix of bandits, Do the tie aggressor's last. it takes 3 or 4 to acutally be a problem to the vessel your escorting. So if you can wittle them down to 2 or 3, just let the ship your escorting ride them out.
As for taking them out, Use cap and weapon overload and lay into the turret first. without the turret, its helpless. Use rebel shield commands if you have to and "switch your deflector's on, double front".

Use the [ or ] keys to switch targeting to the Weapon0 component. You still have to chew through their shields, but once you do the turret goes down much faster than the ship as a whole. Without that rear turret, NPC Aggressor's are much less intimidating.

If you're going after gunships, they usually have multiple turrets (up to 6 on some of the ones I've seen in Kessel). Target Weapon0 like before, once that's destroyed your targeting should automatically cycle to the next turret. For gunboats you'll want to do strafing runs; fly past shooting as you go, get out of range, wait a bit for your shields to recharge (or use shield shunt), then repeat. Don't sit there like a big fat target. Since the shields are split into front and back, it works best if you do each run in the same direction, either all from the gunship's front or all from the back.

if its just smaller ones like tie aggressor i would simply joust. slow down when it comes at you (not completely but almost) and blast away and before its past you speed up, use boosters to get some distance (before you rear shild is out), then turn around (shield shunt or whatever if necessary) and repeat. pretty annoying and boring but trailing them is nothing but suicide.
