For example: So if u got weapon Vs. shield 0.999 and max dama 1000and other weapon

VS.shield 0.433 max dama 2000 does it do less damage to shield or near same damage to shield ????

Does someone knows how they ar calculated when made damage with weapons on ships ????

i dont know how they are calculated, but yes, the hibher the VS Shield # is, the more of the maximum weapon damage will actualy effect the shield (or armor)

some weapons will have veary high sield damages (like ion cannons) and all but crappy armor damage.

While others like blasters will have low shield damage, but high armor damage.

so.. jsut got giggles sake. Lets say that the VS S hield/armor # is multiplied as it is, against the weapons damage.

so to take from one of yours above.if the VS shield was 0.433, and your weapons max damage was 1000 Then we can "guess" that the damage you jsut did to the shield was a total of 433 out of the 1000 you fired at it.

but if that same weapon had a VS armor of 833, then you'd wind up hitting the armor (after the shield was down) for 833 of the 1000 damage you fired at it.

well, I haven't done any math on these yet...but check the pilot and JTL forums....there's some threads that explain the weapon damage.

From what I understand, the vs. shield and vs. armor numbers are a percentage.....and it means that your weapon will do that percentage of the damage you within the range of the lowest and highest number.

So if you have a weapon that is 500 min and 1000 max damage with a vs shield rating of .650....then you will hit your target anywhere from 500 - 1000 damage but will only do 65% damage.....if you hit for 750...then you'll only do 487 points of damage to the shield....if you hit for the full 1000, then you'll only do 650 damage to the shield.

Also, I've heard of vs shield and vs armor ratings going up to 1.100.....with this I assume you do full damage plus another 10%....I've actually seen one in beta but yet to see one in live.

If the above is anywhere near correct then that explains why low level missiles are not that effective, but the high level missiles are excellent because they usually have .900 or better vs. ratings.

Don't take my word for this though, check the forums, read the faqs, do a search, ask some master pilots and shipwrights.....I certainly might be wrong here....but that's my understanding of how weapons work.

Let's say your dmg is 2500 and your eff vs shields is .65.

2500*.65 = 1625 dmg
