Thread: Question about Weapon Groups & X-Wing

I just outfitted my first X-Wing and had never dealt with multiple weapons before when flying a Y-Wing. So I am a little confused on how weapon groups work.

I have an Advanced Blaster & a Heavy Blaster on my X-Wing. Currently Weapon Group 1 is the Advanced and Weapon Group 2 is the Heavy.

When I fire (for either weapon group) it appears that two of my guns fire and they alternate (i.e. top left & bottom right guns fire then the next shot the bottom left & top right guns fire).

1. If I put both blasters into Weapon Group 1 will all four guns fire at once?

2. What does this do for damage output?

3. What does this do for energy drain rate?

4. I chose two blasters rather than 1 blaster and an Ion cannon or disruptor for appearance reasons. When I loaded an Ion cannon as weapon 2 it showed two different styles of guns on the wing (at least in the screen from the spaceport management terminal). I thought that this looked silly and I'm a little bit style conscious. When you're in space with two differenttypes of weapons does your X-Wing look the same way it does on the spaceport terminal?

5. Also my X-Wing has rectangular engines, are there certain engine types that have a round appearance like the ones in the movies?

Thanks for any help. I tried searching the forums, but the new search engine doesn't search posts older than 1 week for me.

Yes...providing your currently set to fire group 1.Someguys like firing a continuous stream of light at bad guys(ie: kebind-fire and cycle to next weapon group), some guys like to group their shots. Is a matter of combat style.

2. What does this do for damage output?

Damage is done when a laser hit is registered (ie: damage is done is if only one laser from the weapon hits. If both lasers hit from the same weapon you still have the same amount of damage.)

So if the lasers do hit from two different guns you get both damage from them.

3. What does this do for energy drain rate?

Energy per shot drain on capacitor is still as satated...heh..there is no 10% discount...

4. I chose two blasters rather than 1 blaster and an Ion cannon or disruptor for appearance reasons. Yes, what you see no the terminal is what you see in space (use mouse wheel in spaceto see the outside of your ship...I think you can use the numpad + and - keys also.)

5. Also my X-Wing has rectangular engines, are there certain engine types that have a round appearance like the ones in the movies?

Yes, I think you'll have to look in the shipwrights FAQ's to find out which engine's look like what...it's in there somewhere.

1. If I put both blasters into Weapon Group 1 will all four guns fire at once? Yes

2. What does this do for damage output? Depends how good an aim you are small difference tbh.

3. What does this do for energy drain rate? Little difference

4. I chose two blasters rather than 1 blaster and an Ion cannon or disruptor for appearance reasons. Correct, the weapons are the same on there oposite wing mounts... ie bottom left and top right are the same weapon.

5. Also my X-Wing has rectangular engines, are there certain engine types that have a round appearance like the ones in the movies? Different engines will give your x wing difference appearances, and you can find some with circular ends, but i dont know which they are tbh of hand.

Use the adv search function you can then search fields longer than 7 days by selecting it higher ranges.
