Thread: Noobish question about Corvette Turrets

I just recently got into doing JTL, and I keep reading strategies about the Corvette missions (specifically in Kashyyyk) that involve taking out Turret #5 on the bottom of the Corvette.

What I can't figure out is:

1. How do you figure out which side of the Corvette is "up" or "down" before you get within firing range, and ...

2. What are good strategies for blowing up turrets?

Any help is appreciated.

Best way to tell the top and bottom of the 'vette:

Look at the middle section just behind the bridge. Note the big lumps on one side, and the little lumps on the other.

Cardinal rule- little lumps good, big lumps bad.

Also cycling through the subsystems and looking at the yellow boxes on the vette is a good way to see what is where too. the side with lots of yellow boxes is the top.

well if you target weapon 5 theres a little yellow box that shows where its at, thats the bottom side

and when i take out a vette i usually only knock out number 5 with a rolling strafe thingie i do, then i take out the shields and engine, after the vette is stopped i work on the other guns, just stay underneath the vette and you can hit em without getting shot at

oh and keep an eye on the vette, if it starts to roll before you take out the engine you better stay underneath it

OK, I can identify the bottom side now, but I still get demolished when I try to make a strafing run from the bottom ... any other suggestions?

I figured out what I was doing wrong. I was actually STRAFING the Corvette from stern to bowas opposed to doing a "divebomb" maneuver aimed directly at Turret 5.

After figuring that out, it was a lead-pipe cinch, and I'm now enjoying my brand-new Vaksai.

Thanks for the assist!

have you tried the "other" bottom side?

seriously though if you are coming in from below and onlt one gun is shooting at you then you shouldnt have any trouble killing that gun before your shields are down.

either you are getting shot at by 5 guns since you are really coming in from above, or you need to seriously rethink your ship loadout.

I hear spinning is a good trick....

Seriously it is.

Good way to practice:

There is a corvette hulk in yavin space. practice diving corkscrews aiming at the spot where gun 5 is, and boosted spinning escapes.

Too tired to remember your earlier posts, but if you're Neutral the 'vette will be yellow dot to you until you shoot, so why not just mosey up to his underside, match speed, take careful aim, cut loose a volley, blow gun 5 then run like heck?

Oh wiat, this is a kashyyk 'vette, nm that last part. like I said, im tired.
