Thread: Deep Space as a privateer
I can't think of anything else to try. Is there a way to get out to Deep Space and earn FP as a neutral, or do we still have this imbalance in our profession?

Don't see the problem. If you want that the full 'rules' for imperial Pilots apply to your character I suggest you become an imperial pilot and stop being some hired gun.

The problem is, as a freelance rebelpilot, I am denied the ability to gain faction points in deep space, unlike a reb or imp pilot (I assume they can get faction points). Didn't Han Solo become a General in the Alliance while never flying anything but the Millenium Falcon. There is no reason a freelance pilot should not have the same ability to advance in faction like rebel or imperial pilots. And, as far as choosing sides when entering deep space, this does not allow you to get faction points. To get faction points, you must declare at a factioned space station, at which point the space station (manned by an imperial comm operator) will not allow you to use the space station to get into deep space. I'm suprised to find that Imperial freelancers cannot get into deep space as well and am curious as to what the comm operator tells you, since he tells me that he doesn't deal with rebels.

I'm sorry, but this makes perfect sense. Neutrals should not get faction points. Faction points are for factioned players. Neutrals are not entitled to them by definition. If you want to fight for a side, then fight for a side.

Yes but you see, when we're in Deep Space, or flying around Endor while declared, we ARE fighting for a side. We're not Switzerland here, we're freelancers--we fly for who we want when we want, for whoever catches our fancy or pays best. In fact, when I'm a declared Imperial, it seems I've chosen a side more firmly than an Imperial pilot who remains covert. I'm running the real danger, anyway.. they may be doing the Empire's bidding, but I'm taking the initiative.
When I'm overt, how is it any different from when you're overt? How have I not chosen a side when I'm in Kessel killing every Rebel that pops up on my radar? Why do I not deserve faction points but you do?
I'd rather get paid more rather than get faction points we likely can't use (if ground neutral). ![]()
We are mercenaries in a sense aren't we?
BUT, since you can ONLY declare as your GROUND Faction as a Freelance Pilot, you should get the same ground faction benefits of fighting the enemy when you are OVERT in space.
You should be earning faction if you are factioned on the ground. Neutrals on the ground SHOULD NOT earn faction in space, because they can pick to fight for either side overt in space whenever they feel like it.
You seem to be missing the point. I never asked to get points just for shooting down ties. I cannot declare in a way that allows me to get faction points while in deep space. I very much fight for a side. I am rebel on the ground and chose the rebel side going into deep space (though i don't have the imp option, why would i want it). I fly the freelance ships but I am far from being neutral and far from being unfactioned. I am a rebel pilot who aids rebel pilots by blowing up imperial ships in deep space, I just happen to do it from a Rihk. Once again, I will point out the fact that Han Solo became a Alliance General flying a YT. Denying us faction makes no sense.
