Thread: Switching pilot faction

I'm trying to switch from rebel to imp pilot. I've given up reb, but since I have minus 450 imp fp, I have to get it to zero before I can sign up. Since I'm Combat Level 1, that means an awful lot of delivery missions, so I thought I could just do it in space instead.

I'm now a Tier 2 neutral pilot. But when I visit Imperial space stations, seeking to declare, I am turned away, with an admonishment to come back when I've signed up. Am I doing something wrong, or is it impossible for a neutral pilot to declare with minus imp fp?

You won't be able to declare unless you have a ground faction. Unfortunately you're going to need to either buy the points, or run missions.

This is what confuses me. According to the Pilot FAQs, neutral pilots can declare either imp or reb temporarily. Is that incorrect?

That's in space, not on the ground; I have no idea if your ground faction makes a difference there, but as an Imperial I can fly to an imp station, communicate with 'em, tell them I want to declare, and then go shoot Rebels for FP. And chance getting killed by a Rebel player, but them's the breaks. I'm told Rebels can do the same with their own station, no reason to doubt that. Me, I strafe Rebel stations when I come close to 'em Doesn't do much good, but I do it anyway.

If you only have -450, why not just buy that from a smuggler, thats only like 50k credits, no big deal, you will be richly rewarded by the Empire by doing so.

I believePrivateeer pilots can only declare in space if they are factionaly aligned on the ground. You will have to do the delivery missions, or pick up some combat skills. Or find someone who will sell you some of their faction points to you.

I've been trying for a week. No one seems to be online when I am (I live in Europe).
