Hi all,
I just got Rebel Ace Pilot, and I went into Deep Space thinking I would be able to take out some ships. To my surprise, I was shot down in a few hits from NPC fighters. I am using an X-wing, it doesn't have any great REd parts in it, but can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? Also, is an X-wing good for taking down the Star Destroyer/Corvette?
Thanks.

Are you using droid commands?
Reactor OL 3, Weap OL3, Cap OL 3, CTSS 4, and Engine OL 3?

Yes, using Weapon Overload 3, Capacitor Overload 3, Engine Overload 3, Reactor Overload 3, and CStS3 when needed.

Tier 5s can be nasty in Deep Space, they hit hard and can really swarm you. What do your shields and engines look like? Those will be the two big things to keep you alive up there.
Other than that, remember to use IFF Scramble if you get in a jam, and try to steer away from gunboats if you're dogfighting.. oh yeah, and invest in a chaff launcher. Tier 5 missiles hurt, and the 1K mass is worth it in any situation where you're going to be hit by them.

Forgot that IFF Scramble, and yes, the Chaff Launcher is probably the best 900 credits I ever spent
So, also that other question, is the X-wing an effective ISD/Vette Killer?

You really need a good engine. What level are your blasters? The faster you can cut them down, the better. Are you using a good shield? I run a lev 8 Reward shield that is 2550 energy, 15 regen. That works pretty good. You want an engine with a PYR rating of at least 1.2, or you will get creamed PVP anyways. The better your PYR the tighter your turns for getting behind them. KNock out TIE bombers and Oppressors first if swarmed, they are the missiel launchers. Also, be quick and flexible, if you are getting creamed chasing down an INterceptor by his buddies, break off and go after one of them. Try not to fly in a pattern. Shake Jive and Roll baby!

My current setup is like this.
- Post-Nerf Reward Engine, working on getting Pre-Nerf.
- 2 Level 7 crafted Blasters
- Level 7 Crafted Shield
- Low-Level level 2-3 looted armor
Working on REing my reward shield and reward gun, getting another reward gun to RE as well. Also my engine isn't REd, looking for level 6 engines and a Pre-Nerf Level 6.

I'd get better shields. Like someone else mentioned, get the best engine and shields you can stuff in there. When I was running with my Dunelizard, I would try to tackle tier5 droid ships (sons of guns are f.a.s.t), and my engine, booster and shields (and the cap to shields program) saved me everytime it got too hairy.

After a bit of experimentation, I found I can be successful in Deep Space.
First, I chose to take in an A-wing. Not only can I take out the ISD with one wingman, but I will hardly get hit.
Then, I got a lighter, Mark III shield with the same stats as my Mark IV. I was then able to fit in a few other necessary parts.
I'm still using the same level 7 crafted gun, but it is doing me fine in terms of damage.
Same UnREd reward engine, still going very fast, then with EO3, so I am fast and maneuverable at high speeds, around the 3/4 speed range.
Got a Cap to Shield Shunt 4 chip, didn't have any shunt to shields chips before /gasp
I am doing tons better, can take out fighters, gunboats, and the ISD. I'll try to 'vette next...
And thanks everyone who gave me the great advice to get me this far, and thanks Tomo for the awesome parts I got from your shop!
